So many humans can be idiots....pretty hard to find a dog that is one.
Our daughter and son in law's 2 year old Munsterlander/Chocolate Lab cross that they got as a pup to be their hunting dog, developed severe glaucoma early on which necessitated removal of both his eyes last year. You'd hardly know he's blind, the way he gets around now. "Cougar" instantly adopted our brand new granddaughter 5 months ago and is now her best friend, big brother, and protecter. Dogs are amazing creatures for sure...

When I lived in Texas with Wife 1 I took the runt of the litter of a German Shepherd. Shortly after Blitz was weaned from his mama I gave him to my kids and told them-don't hurt him. Best cursed dog I ever had. Watched over Wife and Kids while I was off in my big truck. Course when I got back home Blitz was all mine. 107 pound Shepherd thought he were a lap dog!  Lips Sealed Dogs become Family members with out you even knowing it.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

I like dogs.

Here I am sitting on ferocious ( I mean it ) British Army guard dog Dag. I'm about 18 months old. At an army camp in Malaya.

Excellent story, thanks for posting it.
I was raised on a farm, dogs and cats were not allowed in the house for any reason.
To a certain extent, I still feel that way but, mostly because of the dirt they bring back inside with them and all the hair we have to clean up off the floor.   I still don't want pets on our furniture but, that's impossible to stop with my wife's cats.   OTOH, my buddy Bowser never gets on the furniture.   He'd like to be a lap puppy but, at 170 lbs., I don't have enough lap for him to get on.  Wink

Dogs certainly do have excellent people skills. They have definitely improved my quality of life over the years. Your pup is truly special and your granddaughter will hopefully have her friend for a long time.

You must like Extra Crispy...…
I'm not normally one to point out errors but is that a mistake or did you mean fried?

Good stuff! Dogs are amazing, wonderful creatures! We are on our 5th Lab. Seems as if each one is better than the last. I have always wondered if it's a coincidence that these creatures were named "Dog". Spelled backward is the obvious and the fact that these creatures accept and love us unconditionally.

We have 4 dogs in the house. My kids use every one of them as pillows. Then as wrestling opponents. Our big old black lab George is coming to the end of his days I'm afraid. He is 12 and has had hip dysplasia his entire life. He has been on pain meds for the last yeah and a half just to keep him comfortable. He is pretty pampered though, he may live another year or 2 before it gets so bad we have to put him down. Dogs are amazing creatures. cooldude
