anyone experience a chrome wrap on the plastic side covers-mine are blue-stock- but have most everything else chrome on the side of the motorcycle. I understand the chrome side covers when found are some $500-each!

Not my Valkyrie, but I did attempt a wrap on my Airhead tank a few years back.  It was my first time, but found it to be "somewhat" doable.  The curved corners will be the biggest challenge, along with keeping them stable while pulling on the wrap.  Heat is your friend. 

The product itself looked really good when finished, but it was a matte color.  Chrome may be a little less forgiving.
