Little Charlie Baty, one of the all time great guitarists and long time leader of Little Charlie and The Night Cats, passed away on March 6. He was one of my all time favorites. Several good videos on YouTube. Check him out.
RIP Charlie, and thanks for all the good times.

yes, very sad...he was an inspirational player and The Nightcats were a great band. Managed to steal a few of his licks to play in my blues band, but most of his stuff was out of my reach!

I was fortunate enough to catch LC&TNCs in some nice intimate settings twice. Rick Estrin would take time to talk to fans between sets. Their shows were always a hoot. Little Charlie left the band a few years back, but Rick is still touring with his version of the Night Cats. I haven't had the pleasure yet, but I'm sure they are outstanding as well.

>I was fortunate enough to catch LC&TNCs in some nice intimate settings twice I'm envious. In many years of playing blues, I have NEVER met anyone who managed to see him or TNCs live. Then again...I'm from Canada Rick Estrin is up there with the top blues harp players.

I've never heard of him. Went over to youtube and gave a listen. WOW! Another one I've missed out on. Checked out several of his videos. Good stuff.
Checked out a Boz Scazz's video with Duane Allman (from '69), Loan Me a Dime. I didn't know he was around back then. Good stuff (Blues).

Boz Scaggs blues stuff was his best stuff (IMHO) but was never very popular. Check out his Come on Home CD. He does a great version of Love Letters.

It is against the rules here to refer to someone as “little”. Willow has been deleting the “little” posts, so heads up... Charlie Baty was a good one, very talented, he leaves behind a vast catalogue on music. RIP

Doug Deming is a Detroit native that has relocated to Florida ( you Florida boys should check him out, If you do tell him I said hello), Little Charlie played guitar on Doug's latest CD, "A Complicated Mess". I haven't had the pleasure to hear it yet, but with Doug and Charlie teaming up, it's got to be good. I don't know for sure, but it maybe one of Charlie's last recordings.
