I'm 43 but still have a childlike eagerness when I'm excited for an upcoming event. The next InZane has already got me giddy thinking about a route too and from, and has me excited at the possibility of adding 10 States (Yes 10!) to my ride map (look below at my signature).

My route has me riding from home in Pueblo, CO. to my parents place in Mountain Home, AR. From there on to Ashville, NC via Kentucky. On the way back swing south to hit the tip of Florida, then west to San Antonio. The company I work for is in San Antonio so might as well pay an office visit. From there I will finally head home.

Total trip will be 3-1/2 to 4 weeks, 3,500 miles, and will be the longest single trip I've ever done. I previously rode to the Rocky Point Rally in Puerto Penasco, MX. and came back through California. That trip was 2 weeks and was 2,500 miles.

Josh,

Be advised, my friend, you are in serious danger of becoming a hopeless addict!!! Believe me, I know of what I speak! I understand the excitement you feel... I'm a few decades your senior, but I still get that exact same sense of exhilaration and excited anticipation before I head out on a major campaign!!! Glad to see your boldness and spirit of adventure are finding such a suitable and rewarding outlet... Ride on, amigo!!!

Bruce,

Though appreciated your advisory comes far, far too late my friend Wink..

I got the bug back in the day when I realized I could take the bike I used to commute to work on longer day rides, then over night, then weekend rides.

When I got my beloved Valkyrie it was unfortunate for the bug that was biting me. The addiction was so bad, it made the bug sick!

Ever since I have been trying to come up with ways to get out of work. I haven't been.. entirely successful, but have succeeded in some ways. My last job required me to travel so travel I did, on the bike  Grin.

New new job has me working remotely out of a home office, but there isn't anything in the rule book that says I have to work in any particular place. So a remote office can be, say, a hotel room in Asheville, NC.  Wink.

I recommend avoiding Atlanta by going West out of Asheville. Pick up the Blue Ridge and take it to Cherokee, NC (end of the road). Then head South to Leeds, AL for the Barber MC Museum. If you want to skip Barber, go West out of Huntsville and pick up the Natchez Trace (SW) where you can pick up I 10 or go West through Arkansas.

You are going to love the roads around Asheville.

Do you need to go to San Antonio? If not, head NW out of Mobile toward Jackson Ms. and onward to I-40. Head north on just about any of the roads in the Russellville/Clarksville area. Wander around the area for 3 or 4 days while gradually heading west. SR 90 just over the border into Missouri, is a nice ride. It runs from Washburn west to near Southwest City (MO/OK border) about 50 miles.  Lots of fun roads in the Ozarks! I'm hopefully doing a western ride this summer and will be spending 3-4 days riding in the Ozarks.

If the gas prices hold out to the Summer it would be even better!  I paid $1.94 for regular gas today.

I understand the need to ride the Blue Roads to make miles however you are going to miss so many wonderful roads by doing so. A day ride out of Asheville you can do The Snake Hwy 421 ( Mountain City TN to Bristol TN ) . Another day ride out of Asheville you can do The Tail Of The Dragon ( Marion VA to Tazewell VA ) . Another day ride out of Asheville you can do The Dragon Hwy 129. All these you can get to by way of The Blue Ridge Parkway. These are the " famous " roads but there is so many other's that are amazing. If I was you I'd haul ass to Asheville then meander the backroads and not worry so much about adding states . My opinion feel free to make it your own  Wink

Yes, San Antonio will need to be a stop. And yes will be working so don't have all the time in the world.

If you are planning on any of those day rides while at InZane I will have to coordinate with you before hand.
