Does anyone here know how to remove the lock mechanism from the latch on the saddlebag or does it take a special "locksmith" tool to remove the body of the lock from the latch part?  The key & tumblers are out, but I can't find the secret to removing the body that holds the tumblers....Thanks....JTL   uglystupid2

The latch and lock are off the bag and the key and tumblers are out of the body of the lock.  I just do not know how to remove the body of the lock from the latch...JTL

Hey, I was digging through the archives hoping someone had done this before. So Pharmbou, how does that damn thing come out? I tried for about 30 minutes with no luck.

I'm not sure what you're after, if painting or something, I guess the whole thing
has to come out.

I got a whole new key set and replaced all the locks on my bike. I thought getting
the whole latch off the saddlebags was going to be hard, it is sealed (to keep
out water I guess) with goo. I just changed the guts to the lock and was happy,
I guess you're saying you already have the guts to the lock out...

When re-keying, you just need to change the barrel pins UNLESS you're changing key types ("A" to "B", or vice versa). Then you change the barrel. No need to change the lock bodies.

A good source of parts are the lock assemblies found on GL1100/1200 'Wings. I regularly find these at swap meets for a buck or two apiece.
