The Admin who locks a thread should post why they were locked.   police

Some just go "poof", and disappear into a magical cloud of smoke!  Not that I'm griping.   Wink

But instead of, POOF, they're gone, or locked with no explanation, a brief one sentence post by the official who makes the call might serve the greater understanding by removing any mystery (or need to read the rules of the road again...).

I understand your suggestion but I am totally uninterested in debating the validity of removing posts or locking threads.

I don't know about the US supreme court, but here in Canada they reject appeals to them without explanation.

Not debating the validity, but doing so without explanation can seem cavalier.  The last one had an original post and two replies, neither of which were inflammatory or personal.

Maybe just maybe it had something to do with those 2 links to conspiracy theory sites. The first like was fine, the other 2 are just something some tinfoil hat wearing 50 year old virgin that lives in his moms basement thought up. There are a couple people here that have a huge problem with double checking whst they post as gods honest truth.  Everything they read on the internet is true to them. They must be so scared that they think they need to push it onto people that frankly just do not care what they have to say. So yes, i agree the thread and any one like it should be locked. Good job Willow, keep up the good work.

I agree with the above, and also with Disco.  I believe his suggestion isn't to contest the reason for locking a thread, but to make members aware of why it was locked.  Simple phrases like ROTR Violation, or Total BS, etc would perhaps make members more knowledgeable and just might improve the quality of our posts.

No one likes to have their post locked or deleted. And while no “system” is perfectly fair. This is still the best forum I frequent and I’m on a few

I know that you wouldn't intend to, Dave, but were I to post any explanation I'm sure knowing the disposition of some on the board it would result in such a discussion.

Even when one doesn't intend to question or accuse it will happen.  You demonstrate that with the second sentence of your reply.

At least one of my colleagues will simply delete the thread to avoid just such conversation.  Perhaps in this case I should have done that.  I lock threads that I see are heading in a direction or have arrived at being a pissing contest.

I participate in this conversation out of respect for the OP but it is not an example of my pattern.
