Just found out that Darryl Cross, who is a Supreme Court Officer in the Bronx just passed
from Covid19

Darryl was the union rep, a really friendly guy looking out for his officers and one of
everyone's favorite people in the courthouses.

Was in good shape and maybe early 50's so this is a real stunner.

I cant even get an appt to get tested from running out of breath doing simple stuff in the garden.

Local doc gave me zpac last week which is not antiviral and had no effect on this cough and sinus and lung  issues.  Did not even get a call back today when I called to ask for test.  Results taking 9 days I am told.

Stay away from NY if you can we have more cases than anyone.

Was planning on taking the bike to the Bronx to pick up some files tomorrow, but wont be seeing any clients, just go there and come back on the police bike

Undecided The lowish odds of getting infected, or killed if you are, are meaningless when someone you know is killed by it.  I pray you recover without the need for serious intervention, regardless of what turns out to be the actual cause.

Checking your temperature is ultimately the most important thing to do.  A temperature of 100.4 degrees should get you a test, locked down/in and possibly admitted to a hospital.   Recently, my wife and I both developed sinus issues and a repeating cough.   We checked our temps several times a day, all is well.   Just remember, oral and anal are distinctly different when doing this and please don't get the two confused.  Wink

I am in agreement temp say 101 and above and coughing and shortness of breath should be getting tested ASAP  this is NO joke if I was having temps 101 and constant coughing and shortness of breath I would be calling every second of the day demanding a test ASAP.  Keep after them but am sure me living in a very low infected region vs. NYC probably having this virus infections the worst in entire United States am sure they are getting bombarded in NYC area with people wanting tested.

You are not normally ever short of breath right?  and that worries me a lot.  Please keep calling and get tested and wishing nothing but the best even healthy young people in their 20s are dying so best of luck and take care.

GET TESTED PLEASE!   For maybe they can treat you with something that will work if not the common cold.    This crap be getting REAL very quickly heading into April fear will be the worst to come very soon.

I do not get sick hardly ever but I cannot remember one day where I am short of breath even with the most severe flu symptoms.  Shortness of breath would scare the living heck out of me right now not being a smoker only time I would get short of breath is if I tried to run around the block or go up a 100 flights of stairs.

Sounds like even some symptomatic Bronx doctors and nurses are having difficulty getting tested.   Sure looks like a bad situation there.   Hoping the best for you.

I have now had two doctors tell me that the protocol is the same whether I have the test or not  They only are testing if you are going into the hospital which is bizzare.

The chest x-ray I got last night came back the same as one I had in 2016.  My gut is telling me I have this 19 stuff and have had it awhile and I am probably half way point.

Can not prove it but think a drink I make has helped me avoid the worst that has happened to others

Recipe is: take a qt of water, boil it, take 3-4 garlic cloves in the garlic press and turn off the heat and drop the garlic in it.   Pour into a coffee mug, then after a minute start to drink the whole thing and including the garlic.  It may make you quesy, but just down it.   In the morning I put that mixture in a shake I make with blueberries, zucchini, greens and some pineapple and grape tomatoes and drink it all down with a pint of water.   Drink water during the day often and sleep when you feel tired.

So far no vampires have come to the house !

The out of breath thing when I exert like carrying stuff or standing after bending over in the garden
will hopefully pass eventually and things will return to normal by the end of April, I hope.  Going out to look for zinc lozenges in a while as zinc is supposed to slow replication of viruses.

Bonnie has had the cough and temp for a week now, she went with me to the dr but did not ask to have him look at her.  She is a tough broad.

Thanks for the good wishes and buy masks if you can find them and WEAR THEM   If you cant find one wear your head scarf as a mask, it is better than nothing.

cooldude she’s doing better. Actually got her on the bike yesterday for a short ride. First time for her in quite some time. It’s not healed, but she’s not in excruciating pain anymore. And if your chest xray looked as it did 4 yrs ago and no pneumonia I would doubt it is 19.

Maybe some of you PAs, EMSs and other medical professionals could provide a ittle insight on how this differs from seasonal influenza?  Some of "us" are still having difficulty with that.    coolsmiley

Sitting at my local bar on a Monday evening in mid Feb. Ordered the first beer.

Before it got to me I knew I was going to throw up. Got the thick salty tasting fluid in my mouth.

Put money on the bar and quickly left.

Drove home sipping water.

Sat on the edge of my bed for 3 hours sipping water. Thick salty fluid still coming into my mouth. Took some Aleve and Immodium AD.

Read online that sucking a mint helps. Sucked mints. One after another.

Managed to sleep thrashing around. Temp of about 99.5. Next 5 /6 days were awful. Diarrhea. Coughing to bust a rib.

Fortunately is was Winter Break week from school. Spent most of it in bed.

Next 2 weeks still coughing and head/sinuses full of crap.

I am taking precautions and have been for the past 2, 2 1/2 weeks. Isolation and lotsa hand sanitizer and washing.

I see that members of the community in New Rochelle from the ground zero synagogue are lining up to donate blood to help the medical community see if victims have developed antibodies.

Would that be great if we can isolate something to save lives

That is exactly trying to make lemonade from lemons  and I approve  cooldude
