Getting tired of being shut down.........today I took a 210 mile back roads country ride to see the fields of bluebonnet , Indian paint brushes, some kind of yellow flowers and the pinkish buttercup all in bloom at the samem time. It's gorgeous out there. Now... about my new riding habits. I ate breakfast at home. Took 2 bottled waters and a protein bar for a snack. Stopped to gas twice. While gassing I held the pump handle with a paper towel. After pumping I got out my bottle of hand sanitizer and went over my hands, my handlebar grips, my credit card, and my keys. I did not go into any establishment....did not get near anyone. I stopped on country roads to pee. It was a very cheap day with $1.65 gas
I don't think there was any way I could have gotten the corono virus nor could I have endangered any one either. Good ride. I needed that. Now 605 miles from 100,000 miles on my Valk. The countdown is on.

Yeah-we as RIDERS need to look out fer Ourselves cuz as we iz Already aware the cage drivers ain't lookin out fer us! Sorry dude-didn't see ya! And as We Are aware a RIDE do help sweep out cobwebs and worries! Good thoughts. RIDE SAFE.

It is getting closer to the time when I try to go for longer rides, 200-400 milers. Been thinking on it. normally I have places where I stop for food. Now think I'll be taking power bars of some sort and water instead of stopping for food. Though will miss some of the normal food stops. Some have really good eats. RATS Also have found that I am stopping on shorter rides to find a tree instead of the rest areas that are there. Though some places with lots of grass lands, the trees are harder to find.

Power bars or sammich in small cooler, Gatorade, Wipes, Purell, small can of Lysol spray, nitriles and an n95 just in case of needing emergency ride of having to enter a store or establishment. Now I'm waiting on the frigid wind and snow squalls to die down... Oh, yeah. Pistol.

I’m wondering when I’ll be in a business establishment and an attempted robbery takes place and at least half the other patrons pull their piece on the robber.

If that happens John, the best place to be is on the floor (not running for the door).
While millions of permits have been issued in many states, your chances of having that happen are very slim indeed.
Most with permits are well aware that police and prosecutors take a very dim view of citizens starting a gunfight at a robbery scene. Whether a 7-11 or a bank, if the robbery goes smoothly (and quickly as planned) and they get their money and flee, it is best for everyone if that happens without incident. That's what insurance is for. Even if I had a clear shot at the back of the armed thug's head and couldn't miss, I would not take it, unless he's shooting first. Neither you nor the thug(s) would ever know I was armed.
However, if the thug(s) decide to shoot all the witnesses, then you will be very glad if there are any permit holders to stop that from happening.

So far in my corner of the world, have never felt the need to pack while riding.
Been a time or two that a critter needed to be shot, but no problems with humans yet. if necessary could fine something to carry and obtain a carry permit.

i'm 63 and have a lot of guns and live in a no permit state but have never carried, when i leave the house, riding or driving, the thought of a gun never enters my mind. with the direction things are going, that may change.
we don't need a permit to open or cc.

Living through episodes of people trying to kill you (personally) changes your perspective.
So does working in criminal prosecution and defense (and with cops and AFOSI in criminal investigations).
So does watching the news (but less than the others).
I have (and need) a permit and carry sometimes; not all the time. That is risk assessment (and laziness), but I haven't been wrong yet.

Years ago when I lived/worked in the high country of AZ, I carried to work all the time. Worked in the forest with a high concentration of critters with rabies. Also there were a few large cats and bears. So yeah I have carried. After leaving that part of the world have not had problems, so started leaving firearms at home. Oregon does have a open carry regs, so can if I start getting the feeling of need without going to Sheriff to get a permit. I did enjoy a very short 60 mile ride yesterday in mid 40's temps with lots of sunshine. Had my first Oregon experience of totally pumping my own gas. The place where I normally get gas, has always had attendants who would take credit card and setup the pump, then hand me the pump handle to pump my gas. Had to do the whole thing yesterday. New item from Governor, who said we had pump our own gas to cut down on person to person contact. They did have attendants who cleaned the up after one pumped their gas, wiping down the whole unit. I did have a wipe in pocket to wipe hands when done. Threw it way as soon as finished. NEW NORMAL
