just for fun and am sure has been brought up prior in old posts:
If money was no object and if you could only pick 2 cycles to own, what would they be?
Mine would probably be, after a thorough test ride first to see if they fit my riding style and butt well (ergonomics), a new honda goldwing while 2nd would probably be a new yamaha Vmax, good choices or not? One for comfort and good speed, the other for insane speed, not sure on the new Vmax though for comfort?
I rode last year an old 1980s yamaha vmax seemed like the price was right, but after riding it was not comfy on it at all pretty much stock. It was too small for me and footpegs too far back was very very uncomfy on it felt like an 18 year old hooligan bike to me is all.

I really don't care for 2 cycles, I mean I get way more power, but the mixing of oil and gas is just a PITA.....

When I was stationed in Japan-66 68-my 2 cycle was a Yamaha 125CC single with a rotary valve. Pressed steel frame internal expanding drum brakes and a new modern 50CC would most likely clean the 125s clock. BUT I had way More fun then you could shake a stick at. RIDE SAFE.

My first bike (not counting the Honda 50 I bought for $2) was a 1970 Kawasaki Mach III, a 2 stroke triple. It was a real sleeper, with a dark gray tank and barely noticeable logo in black. That didn't matter as few had heard of Kawasaki anyway. The handling was terrible, the drum brakes faded, but was it ever fast. Tests claimed 0-60 in 4 seconds and a mid 12 quarter mile. All tires were skinny in those days, so even the hottest muscle cars struggled to match those times. The engine sound was unusual but it grew on me.

Well, one would certainly have to be my current Valk...there's just too many memories over the past 18+ years to give it up, and it still turns my crank every time I throw a leg over or even just see it sitting in the garage. My second bike would be an adventure tour....the CRF1100 African Twin DCT with full tour pack..

ducati diavel thought about that one as well vs. the new yamaha vmax, that one would be a tough call would have to test drive both to decide which one fit me better, both fast and look sharp. One can dream though right since both cost over 20K each and all 6 of my cycles combined (2 are kids) are not even worth that much.
african twin 1000 adventure bike as well would be at the top of my list but not so sure the ergonomics would fit me and not like anywhere offroad much I would go around me. If lived somewhere more off road adventure area, it would be a consideration though.
Now to just win the lottery and make it happen. The CFO talking to all in our dept. on Friday thru a ZOOM meeting made it perfectly clear that MORE layoffs are coming projected over 100 now but could be over 1000 if this virus keeps up stay at home thru May, will have to see and keep just dreaming for now? He said most all will have to take a week off unpaid (and am sure if can get thru to the unemployment office now in WI heard cannot even online is bad to register to at least get something?). Will see how that one goes if taking off 1 full week make it 1 month and could financially ruin my company since I post cash flow daily MUST get done daily, especially now when cash flow is very very restricted coming in every check/wire/credit card, and ach pymt counts. CFO made that perfectly clear as well that cash flow is the MOST important thing right now in this recession, heaven forbid it be about the safety of our coworkers and families/friends and staying employed?

As to the original question, honestly I'd be hard pressed to set up a better duo for me, my riding styles, preferences, body ergonomics etc than a Valkyrie Interstate and a Valkyrie Standard (Which coincidentally is what I have.)
I MIGHT swap one of the Valkyrie's out for a new 'Wing, but that'd be a hard sale. One of those things where on paper the 'Wing is superior in every way, but there's a certain je ne sais quoi that the Valkyrie's have that the 'Wings don't.....

I am with you on that Serk when it comes to our old Valks (especially Interstate model) vs. newer Goldwing. I thought about buying a nice used one last year asking way way too much 9K or so wanted it for 8K but he would not budge so passed. It drove o.k. but it sat more upright and crowded for me being fatter and with all that plastic tupperware upfront really nicely loaded, although am sure could get used to it, was NOT my old Valk I/S which I am used to fits me like a glove. My 650cc suzuki burgmann is nice though to just hop on and go feels like 350lbs. vs. 600lbs. it is and although looks huge, is probably the most nimble agile handling cycle (or scooter) with most storage space under the seat that I will ever be on ever with plenty of zoom zoom to go 100 mph no problems feels like 55-60 mph when doing 80. I am really lucky to not have gotten a ticket on it last year first year buying it have every single day caught myself doing 70 mph on speedo (in reality 65 mph) in a 55mph speed zone being 99% of my driving roads. 70 really does feel like 45 mph on it is just so quiet and smooth running at 70. I remember first test drive on it was an older gent pushing 70 or so hardly ridden it, I went for quick test drive gunned it and darn lucky NO speeding ticket doing 85 mph thought I was doing 55 NO JOKE it was that quick and smooth with no wind noise or vibration. I never knew a Vtwin engine (54 hp as much as some HD's) could be that smooth no vibration, and quick...

. For me, it’s too late as I have had just enough time in the saddle on the new wing. My only gripe is I miss top opening, larger saddlebags. I know it has no unique old school beauty and that has to be a huge part the j n s q.
