The State of confusion.

Got me a new piece of cardio equipment today...

A hybrid (street/trail). Hydraulic disc brakes. 100mm adjustable/dampened forks. 21 speeds. Aluminum frame.  Cost more than my first car (that's actually not saying much). Nicer than my first car too!

Since all my motorcycles PRIOR to the Valk were basket cases I rebuilt...this thing cost more than the purchase price of all of them put together (again, not saying much).

Something to help with the "stir crazy" and lack of exercise equipment with the quarantine.

Also just good for balance, alertness, and overall fitness. As a young man...many years ago I found this to be one of the most challenging and rewarding hobby pastimes. As a kid I could flat out fly.

I like HIIT training, and lifting, but endurance cardio (treadmills/such) are boring. This should help that for sure!

A couple years back I thought I'd never ride a bicycle again. 427 pound dudes don't survive those...even if the bike survives the initial mounting!

Yes, amazing results. NOT for the faint of heart though...I have around 6 feet of scars...the recovery was mmmmm...interesting.

I am...or was before the shutdown...back hitting the gym HARD...still want to lose a bit more fat and gain a bit more muscle. I ain't taking this "aging" stuff passively Smiley

Sweet looking bike, and amazing metamorphosis Daniel!  Congrats on both!   cooldude

Ya, those puppies aren't cheap!  My nephew is a pretty successful competitive mountain bike racer and has won a national "B" class in his age group.  Not sure what he paid for his "ride" but it was a pretty penny.  He's mighty good, but I think the type of bike he would need to reach that next level would require $ponsorship.  Those very top of the line bikes are jaw droppingly expen$ive!

Crazy stuff, that downhill mountain bike racing.  He's taken some major over the bars head and faceplants.  Keeps on ticking!

Nice bike  cooldude   I got into this in the 80s/90s when I worked pt for extra money at a Schwinn shop on weekends, we had Schwinn, Trek, Santa Cruz, Manatou, Specialized and Diamond Back. Yes it was a large Dealership for the times.  Here is one of my bikes in 95 or 96. We even had crack-n-fail for a bit.

I know we will get thru this Virus thing, BUT at my age not hitting the gym means lost of muscle mass that is hard to restore.   I am working out at home, but limited weights and equipment are not enough to keep up the gains I have made in the last several years.

Daniel, your bike looks pretty good.  Haven't rode one very far in many years.   Though not as much fun, I (and DW) are walking outsides 4-6 times a week.  Have trails near our home that will give us 3-4 miles of walking pleasure without getting too close to others.   That is one part of my routine the Virus is not effecting.   Do miss the limited socialization that one has going to the gym.

Man oh man! There isn't any way in heck that I would ever recognize you had I not seen those photos.
Possibly the best transformation I have ever seen someone accomplish. Congratulations!

Lookin good Daniel, I showed my wife that pic & she don’t believe it’s the same man. Lol
I’m hating that the gym is closed, so bored that I just finished cutting, splitting, and stacking 10 cords of wood for next year...doing 2–3 walks a day of 2 miles each. Good thing tomorrow is ridin weather!

needs a bigger seat even after your amazing transformation.    Grin

well done indeed am impressed more so at you vs. the bicycle.

I went for a 12 mile bike ride yesterday 2nd time this year first time was 8 miles and my keester and somewhat my legs felt it the next day and my seat even has a gel seat slip on cover as well padded of course.  My 120 dollar Pacific bike similar to yours but am sure heavier, etc. and not as good of components work well enough for me and my needs not going cross country on it ever has served me well the past 20 years or so.  Glad you did not get one of those skinny rim bicycles I see so often around where I live going on the rural country roads just asking to get hit when we have so many crushed rock bike trails near me.   One of those people asked me in my hometown how do I get to nearby town I said there is a bike trail on other side of downtown to get you there the quickets.  He said NO have to use a road route and I said good luck take any rural road north (that way - I pointed) him in the right direction since did not want him to take main hwy. 69 running thru our county he would have gotten hit for sure.
