I have a 98 tourer in great shape new tires, battery, rebuilt carbs two years ago, recently replaced the timing belts and the oem petcock. Bike runs and rides like new. If I can fetch a good price I would consider trying some else I know I may be crazy but I'm just getting bored and looking for a change if I had more room and more money.I would keep it. This is a turn key bike with only 5000 miles even have a center stand you could honestly do nothing and drive it cross country. I'm not 100% sure I want to sell it I have to figure out if I have enough money to bridge the gap to something else so if it's not worth much I would just keep it. Thanks for your opinions! http://vrcc.photostash.com/vrcc_39191/20190330_131205_resized_1.jpg

Would you be interested in a swap for a almost identical black 98 Tourer ? Mine is running a CT, solo seat but no center stand. Been cross country about 6 times. Never had a break down but a weak battery almost stopped me. Mine has 162 k but then so do I

You'll be real lucky to fetch a good price on a Valkyrie, even your really nice one. And you'd be real lucky if you weren't sorry about selling it later... anywho... I thought about selling mine when I got an 1800... whew... I'm sure glad I still have my 1500...

Not looking to trade for another tourer sorry. I'm thinking I would really like to have both EFI & ABS I know I will catch crap from this crowd but I'm thinking maybe a Harley I have never owned one but many of my friends do.

You’ll be lucky to get $4k for it...if it’s paid for then you will be better off keeping it and buying the other bike. A ‘98 with only 5k miles will be hard to replace if you sell it and have seller’s remorse.
To answer your question, I agree with 9ball. Unfortunately the going rate for the legacy Valks is not going up. I paid $4,500 for a super clean one owner interstate with 6,700 miles last year. I say with those low miles, keep it. BUT, don't forget to exercise it on a regular basis. If you let the carbs gum up, your bike drops down to less than half that estimate. Jim

I bought my 2001 with 36K on it for $3,600. It has a glass pack exhaust, Honda bags, about $1,300 in seats and probably $600-$700 in extra chrome. Forgot custom painted tank.
The bike sat on FB market place for a while and when he dropped the price by $1,000 I went and rode and took another $300 off the price.
In other words you can get a really nice Valkyrie for cheap.

There is a shop in NJ that sells a ton of used bikes they also take trades I may see if I can cut a deal I can life with or else I will keep it. I can have two this is not an option and these bikes don't like to sit so keeping it and not using it is only going to quickly lower the value. It is I credible how they have come down in value so quickly 3 years ago they were still worth decent money!

I'd look at getting service spares for the bike and just ride it. If you want something else, add to the fleet....don't get rid of the Valkyrie.
The one I let get away (which I had to at the time) was a one-owner-besides-me 2003 Standard which was absolutely immaculate. I'll find another some day and customize it to match the original.

If you have a 1998 Honda with only 5,000 miles on it a Harley will serve you well. You should be able to get between 3300 and 4000 for your Valkyrie in the springtime.

4K on average but would never let it go for under 3500 no way shoot for 4.5K down to 4K if have to. If you start off at 4.5K then drop someone offering 4.2K is better than starting off at 4K IMO then they will want it for 3.7K.
I am trying to reluctantly (really do not want to sell but wife says so) sell my 2008 atv can am max xt500 mint shape only 1600 miles and get low balls all the time for 4.5K said not letting it go for under 5K no way. I tell them to go buy one with double the mileage but newer same exact thing for 8K then or how about new at over 10K. If I had 3500 miles or more double the mileage then fine 4500 is fine, but mileage and no abuse is key to ATVs as well as cycles to some degree.
There will be a buyer for your VAlk with such low mileage if runs well for 4 to 4.5K but might take longer over 4K to sell for sure. Not so sure you will find much, if any, HD's for under 4.5K though and probably less power and slower.
If having a Valk Interstate model, I have seen a few cheap ones for 4500 or so but really still think they are worth 5K to tops 6K with lower mileage with goodies. Also depends on region of the United States as well. Used older 2001-2008 goldwings this time of year are in that 6K to 8K range though so not like our Valk I/S's are worth over that 6K price tag more closer to 5K

The only person on this forum that has seen my bike said I should start the asking price at 5K and go from there. Being I'm not in a rush and frankly not sure I even want to sell it I may take his advice. This said until I decided what or if I want to buy I wouldn't even accept an offer of 5k today.

if you are going to get a harlen then i would keep the valk. don't let your friends talk you into getting the same thing they have use to ride with the same kind of group and when there bike was down i was still ridding i also would tell them your never see me on a harley in there life time. I have 3 valk's 110k 98k 78k and never had any kind of problems.

I agree! I have a 99 Tourer. My Buddy bought a Harley tour bike.
One time we hit an open stretch. Both our Wives were on the back, and fully loaded down. I let Her snap, and hit 125 mph.
HIS bike was maxed out about 90 mph! I had to wait for them to catch up again.........but I DO miss my old Sportster! That was a "fun" bike around Town!

Imagine how cheap Valkyries will become when 100 million Americans discover their jobs aren't coming back. Given how I've already lost $4,000 income since early March, I'm afraid my 97 Valk will spend a full 20 months in hibernation. Even if the governor were to decide I can ride again I won't start it this year because the temptation to trade it for food could be overwhelming.

I own my own business and these are really tough times! I haven't worked more then 3 days in the past 3.5 weeks my bills don't stop the trucks the insurance the phone bills keep coming and I'm trying to continue to pay a full time employee of over 30 years even though his hasn't been to work in over three weeks. this is getting harder every day! With a little luck I will receive a PPP loan to continue making payroll but this remains to be seen. My loan has been approve however I'm not sure the funds are still available. BTW I applied the first day I could along with everyone else. In the mean time I'm trying to keep a positive attitude and if dreaming about getting a new to me bike helps me get through this then so be it.

I wish you were selling it back in the Fall, I would have jumped on it. I bought my 1998 with 11k miles, 6 to 6 cobra exhaust, jetted carbs for 3600, but.... it needed the calipers rebuild and replacing of scratched up rotors. Valks like yours I saw consistently anywhere between 5-6k asking price. Late spring / early summer I think that's a reasonable range.

The more I look and think about it the more I'm leaning towards a Goldwing. One of my motivations for a Harley was the dealership being less the 2 miles from my home and they had tons of events and rides. Covid killed them they closed they doors and moved out. Now I'm rethinking things and looking for deals on Goldwings. I would like the make a trade and pay cash for the difference in value. At this point I'm trying to learn the differences in the years and features. The must have are ABS and fuel injection it appears 2003 and newer should include this if money was no object I would love to buy a new one but that is more 5hen double my budget.

Local report. Saw a guy on FB market place selling his 2002 Valkyrie, 22,000 miles for $5,500. Only real options it had on it were hard saddle bags and a blue flame paint job. I got a hold of him and wished him luck since my bike also has blue flames on the tank. I told him what I bought mine for, thought he might be interested. Turns out he had seen me around town riding. He ended up dropping the price to $4,500 after a few weeks and it's gone now from FB so I assume he sold for around $4,500.

I have had a '99 Toured for the last 4 years and a 2006 Kawasaki V2k for the last 6. I sold the Kawasaki for 5k and then bought a really nice 2002 Goldwing. Best purchase I have ever made. I will never sell my Tourer unless I want to buy a brand new Goldwing. The Goldwing is extremely fast, responsive and smooth. I keep one bike in Prescott Az and one in Phoenix. Love them both, but having FI on the 'Wing is such a rush. My vote is skip the Hardley and go for the Goldwing.
