Any day that you ride is a good day!

Moneta, VA

« on: April 12, 2020, 08:16:49 AM »

Friday night a good friend of mine texted me and asked me to go for a ride with him on Saturday.

At first I resisted because the temps were supposed to be quite chilly Saturday morning.

He agreed to wait until 11AM to let things warm up a little, so that helped.

Then he told me the reason for this impromptu ride.

He needed someone to accompany him on a little "Bootlegging" run.

Knowing his motive, I couldn't say no.

Saturday we met up at our predetermined location and did a quick jaunt up the interstate for about 80 miles.

We stopped at an ATM to get enough money to purchase our bounty:

After about 20 miles of some country back roads we arrived at our meeting point.

Finally we had our contraband.................

Something this valuable you just can't transport out in the open for the entire world to see....

With our bounty carefully concealed we chose a return route that I'm certain has seen many bootleggers pass through.

All of this clandestine activity certainly works up an appetite.

Fortunately, we found just the place to remedy that:

We made it home safely without having to offer any explanations to local law enforcement.

Oh, and the temps warmed up nicely making for a beautiful day of riding.

No open restaurants here, jut a few takeout only.   Missing "pigging out"  on BBQ.

baird4444 got "escorted"  out of Silverton the other day.   Cop asked him what he and his wife were doing on a motorcycle that was so essential.   Said they needed some coffee to warm up.   Cop said that coffee isn't essential and followed them out of town.

Good post Mark (funny too).  Grin

I've been busy around the house all week and am hoping for a ride today.  I've been looking for any local news on bikes being stopped for lockdown violation, and can find none.

I've been working on various reasons to give if I was stopped, and I think bungeeing a 12 pack of TP in a garbage bag on back might just be the best one I can think of.  (shortage is common knowledge) (and no matter where you're pulled over, you can adjust the story as to where your buddy lives)

Hey, a buddy of mine had some to spare, but he lives way out here in the countryside.     cooldude

Course, my inspection is expired (as usual, after winter), and I don't want to mingle with the gas station folks.

We've been re-enjoying a favorite BBQ place almost every weekend
lately... They've been take-out only for the previous three weeks,
we go anyway and eat in the car in the grass parking lot while the
BBQ is hot. It's vinegar based, usually you only find that in the lower part
of the state. I called yesterday, a recording said they were
closed this week...  Sad

Well I got out for a glorious 3 hours on a perfect day.

I didn't strap on the TP.

Saw more bikes out than ever the whole year (ones and twos), so there must be no harassment going on.

Man, you forget how much you miss riding.  (you know what I mean)

This one was take out only as well.

We ate there but had to sit on the ground, couldn't even use the picnic tables.

The guy said that the State police had threatened to shut him down if they saw people using them.

I haven't been bothered by them.

I have been riding mostly solo and mostly sticking to back roads.

If I did get "questioned", my answer will be that I'm out searching for TP.

The Governor's order does allow for fresh air and exercise.

Wind therapy certainly qualifies as getting some fresh air.
