I've been hearing that some states, N Carolina in particular, have a ban on folks traveling thru the state even they are not going to make any stops. Any truth to it ?

I've heard / seen news stories that Texas is requiring people coming from Louisiana to self isolate for 14 days.

Britman posted from their local media that the county in NC
where one end of The Dragon is won't let anyone who doesn't
live there or work there come into the county.

Colorado County: No Visitors Allowed

https://www.gopusa.com/colorado-county-no-visitors-allowed/

"Reynolds says her county of roughly 18,000 residents has one of the highest per capita rates of infection in the country".

Texas AG isn't pleased.

https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/coronavirus/texas-ag-gunnison-countys-ban-of-non-residents-during-coronavirus-outbreak-is-unconstitutional

County commissioners don't give a rip what Texas AG thinks:

"By Friday evening, Gunnison County officials sought to clarify its standing health order while also responding to the letter sent from the Texas Attorney General's Office".

"There has been extreme angst, anger, and fear that have come out of this decision. Rest assured that was not our intention," reads part of a statement on non-resident exemptions found on the Gunnison County Government website. "We have received 199 non-resident exemption requests to date. At the same time, almost all requests for waivers for travel into our valley by non-resident homeowners have been denied. Non-essential travel is banned here in our valley and across our state."
It also states the action by the county's health department was "authorized under Colorado law to protect the public health," and while some of those measures are unpopular, the public health department considered them "unfortunately necessary."

"Regardless, and contrary to the assertions contained in your correspondence, Gunnison County's order, along with the orders it previously issued, are authorized by Colorado and federal law and are fully constitutional."

Spell it?  We're living it!   Undecided

If I leave the county and return, I'm required to self isolate for 7 days.

I read that Utah has virtual checkpoints.  When entering you get a text requiring you to fill our a form stating where you've been and where you're going.

What is movement in the area?  I suppose Crested Butte is off limits to travel in and out of?   Side note is Cottonwood pass finished?

Good questions.

Local folks are free to travel between CB and Gunni.  Yeah Cottonwood is fnished. I'm pretty sure it's still snowed in, maybe purposely unplowed this year?  I'm guessing if things aren't better when it's passable they may set up a checkpoint on our side.  Can't say what their plans are for sure.

I live in Ottawa, Ontario.
We are bordered by the province of Quebec on the north and the USA on the south. Quebec won't let us across the provincial border and the border to the USA is closed.
So, even though the weather for riding is crappy right now, we have only the province of Ontario to ride in.
I can't even go to my trailer on a remote lake in Quebec to "self-isolate"...and they are STILL charging me the taxes for it.
Hmmmmph!!!

I live in Southern Oregon about 20 miles north of CA boarder.   I have been slipping down into CA for rides as high country here has snow/ice on roads.  There are 5 roads within 40 miles of me that cross this boarder.  None of them say anything about not crossing boarders.   I do on longer rides cross into several different counties in both OR and CA.  This interstate band must be a Eastern thing.   2funny

Though sister living in Jacksonville, FL said several weeks ago that there was LEO's reported on the boarder  were stopping non FL folks from coming in.  Haven't seen anything in the news about it.

This provides good information on what individual states are doing:

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/10/travel/coronavirus-us-travel-driving-restrictions.html

This one is the most Orwellian of them all:

Quote
Utah
Driving restrictions: Travelers entering the state must share their travel plans and report any coronavirus symptoms as they arrive. Drivers crossing state lines at the five most common entry points will get a text message telling them how to comply. The statewide “Stay Safe, Stay Home” directive is similar to a stay-at-home-order but doesn’t close businesses or come with enforcement.

This proves that our cellphones are being used to track us.

Remember how you loved that cell phone?
Now it is truly an electronic leach . I have started leaving
mine at home at times. Maybe when I ride I will start
removing battery or something.
Hate being paranoid about this but its
getting to a point where it will come to being tracked.
Really bothered me when I listened to the talk of cards
being issued saying if you were clean or not.

They have been able to track us long before cell phones using the computer chips that are a part of the automobile system. Cell phones have just made it a lot easier. Don't know about motorcycles.
