Pretty good thunderstorms overnight last night, but by 10AM that'd all moved out. By noon it'd moved out and the roads were dry, the sky was turning blue and the temperature was in the upper 70's.

Yeah.....

I need some wind.

Momma's been on a cleaning kick the last few days, and Kaelynn (The girl of the triplets) had been helping the most, so she was selected to come with me. I asked Kali if she wanted to go as well, seeing as it's been a little too long since she'd ridden the Valkyrie....

Heck yes she says!

I have a little 100ish mile loop I like to do from home, it's not the twistiest of roads, but it's pleasant, mostly out in the country, scenic and just the right distance for a tank of gas (On the standard).

So off we headed. Kali was a little shaky and apprehensive at first, but it didn't take her long to regain her sea legs.

First stop (There weren't many because of the Wuhan Flu stuff) was a quick photo op at an old flying saucer house along the way here...

From there out across the two mile bridge across the lake. Wish I coulda gotten some pics, the lake was gorgeous, beautiful sky, low traffic on the roads, just a glorious day... (And we saw a LOT of other bikes out there!)

Turned south past the lake and got on some smaller roads to the dam for the lake...

Lots of folks fishing in the lake downstream of the dam, mostly keeping their distance from each other. Mostly.

With all the rain we've been having lately, the dam overflow was running full speed ahead, and quite beautiful...

I'm guessing the area by the overflow must be good fishing, tons of fishers, both human and avian congregated in that area...

Back to the Valks, one more quick photo before getting back on (After using hand sanitizer, even though we touched nothing.) and off we went.

From there my usual route is to cut down 20 or so miles south until the next town, then switching highways and coming 20 or so miles back north, but I'd always wondered if there were any small roads that cut through. Studied the GPS and ah-ha! There are! Plotted them in, and off we went.

Turned onto a tiny paved road.

Turned onto a tinier road that appears to have once been paved.

Then onto half gravel half potholes.

Then gravel.

Then dirt. Keeping in mind it rained hard just a few hours ago.

Kali's quite the trooper. She was a little freaked out at first, but she handled dancing with the Valkyrie through wet muddy dirt roads quite well.

Luckily this only went on for a few miles, then back to real roads, and homeward bound.

Enjoyable, but not too exciting ride home, partially on super slab, bikes put away and back to cowering in fear inside our house, until our next escape at least.

Not the most exciting ride ever, not the best nor photo filled ride report ever, but we got in a MUCH needed ride! Hope ya'll are able to do so soon if you haven't already!

That's great to be able to ride with your kids. Makes me wish mine we still young enough and close enough to do that again.

You know, Serk, we're living in stressful times for a lot of people.  If you could just take that pretty little girl around to show that beautiful smile to folks your travel could surely be determined essential.

Wonderful Smiley We missed having our daughters and new granddaughter down for Easter this weekend. Did everything with them when they were younger and even when they grew up but were still within relatively easy striking distance... now it's a lot of texting, facetime, etc. Looks like you don't waste any moments with your kids while they're still young and around... and you actually get to ride with them too... Nice cooldude

Very Good for you and the girls!  cooldude

I'm glad to see that my old Interstate is getting put to good use.

Curious, what does Kaelynn think of Big Sister Kali riding the Valk?

Uuh-oh.  Am I seeing a need for yet another Valk in the future, or do you think you can talk Kali into handing hers down?
Ya better start looking now just in case!   Wink

You are a very good dad Brian.   cooldude

Too bad we didn't get your pic too.  I was just wondering if you were also wearing the skintight jeans.   Grin

I got out for a few hours today myself, not far, but perfect weather and badly needed.  Smiley

Curious, what does Kaelynn think of Big Sister Kali riding the Valk?

Kaelynn looks up to her big sister in many things, and is definitely proud of her big sis for riding a big bike like that. But, she's grown up around the Valk as just an every day motorcycle, so doesn't really have anything to compare it to.... She does wanna ride one when she's older though! (As do both of the boys too. Actually Brian Jr. is my biggest motorcycle loving kid, but it wasn't his turn this weekend.)

As I frequently have to point out to Kali the Valk I am currently letting her ride is NOT her bike. In fact, the bike I currently let her ride I've had longer than I've had her, that Valk will not be leaving my ownership until I'm no longer around to ride it. As the other kiddos get old enough I'll let them ride it too if they're so inclined and show the aptitude to do so...

The abatement of the need for wind was nice to have, although it's already rising up again for some reason.....

Do you think Kali would be interested in saving some money, purchase a fixer upper and get some knowledge from a well seasoned teacher?

nice to see both old valks getting some carb buildup being burnt out of them.  You have another say 10 years to go before any of the younger ones are able to ride the cycles.  Am really surprised Kali can handle such a large machine even though she is tall,  she must be super strong lb. for lb..

Heck,  even me age 16/17 or so would have been intimidated riding anything over a 1000cc machine.   Age 18 I had a chance to buy a low 800 miles MINT 80s V65 magna but wanted in 1988  too much 3500 bucks I did not have but if I did that that kind of money age 18, it would have been mine for life until I either wrecked it going way too fast (and died) or wanted something bigger in the saddle for not many cruisers still are faster today than an 80s v65 magna especially the 1983 model.  Test drove a few and WOW,  very nice and FAST!

Near 2 years ago my kid then just turning near age 18, bought a very low mileage yamaha fjr1300 and not my cup of tea but that thing likes to GO and GO FAST.   The seat height though is a tad bit too tall for me and him with both 30 inch inseams and only 5'10" but we both are pretty strong to handle the tallness and definitely feels more top heavy than our cruiser valks.  I thought our Valks were fast for a cruisier, but the fjr1300 is another level fast if you so inclined to do so.

Sadly, no. Kali's a good kid, and this is mostly on me, but she's been spoiled rotten. But also because I wouldn't be a good person to help someone with a fixer upper. I LOATHE wrenching these days, in fact been kinda thinking about a newer bike just to avoid having to do routine maintenance on my Valks as it's become more difficult to find a close, reputable repair person with reasonable prices that has ever wrenched on a Valk before...

Keep in mind she's literally grown up around Valks, so that's her baseline for normal. But being on 2 swim teams and the track team, yeah she's pretty strong too...

And yeah, the FJR1300, like the ST1300, is a totally different animal from the Valk. Traded the wife's ST1300 for the Valk Interstate (*Wave* at 3FanForLife) when the wife quit riding, the ST just didn't fit me.

And when I say Kali's grown up around Valks as her baseline, this was her first ride on the exact same Valk that she's now riding:

Well, thinking on it a bit more, technically THIS was Kali's first ride on my Valkyrie Standard. This was Tarynn riding it while she was 4 months pregnant with Kali:
