I have noticed in past few weeks the local speed traps are vacant and don't see anyone pulled over by Leo.

Others have noticed that too...

(Saw 2 cops on my ride today in speed trap positions. Dunno if they were shooting radar or just hanging out though.)

Here in San Diego there's 3 cops guarding every public parking lot near the beach or parks.. pisses me off, how much is this costing?

I have a novel idea! Open the GD places up and.. you know.. police the areas, if people violate the 6' wall of doom, then break it up.

I'm so frickin tired of this horsesh*t

With a 1400 officer force in my county, I'm used to seeing them out all the time.  But not lately, and I have not seen one pullover anywhere for weeks.

However, as I left the house for a ride today, I passed a house with two patrol cars and officers talking with residents in the front yard.  A few houses down, I saw a longtime neighborhood resident out walking (long retired career policeman, a huge dude but like 80yo) watching the cops up the street and stopped to talk to him.

He said it was a marital dispute, and that the husband and wife had been out in the yard throwing bottles at each other, and that all this staying at home was hard on some marriages.  I replied that at least they were getting some exercise.  We had a good laugh, and I took off.

Then for the next few hours' local ride, no cops anywhere.

I failed to see, and went by a local LEO in a perfect radar spot at least 15 over today and he never moved.
I’m thinking they don’t want any interaction with people if it isn’t life threatening.
Any other time I was so bagged...

Looks like a good time to get on highway and blow out the carbon on the Valk.

I too have noticed this in our area.  And apparently a team used this and lack of traffic to set a new Cannonball Run record of 26 hours and 38 minutes in an Audi A8.

Writing a ticket requires an officer to get much closer than six feet and to exchange touches.  Just not worth it in some minds.   cooldude

When I go out, I do see KCPD cars out. There have been some local news stories about drivers getting pulled over on the local interstates - going over 80 MPH in a 55 / 65 zone !!! Some fools are taking advantage of the COVID 19 situation to speed excessively. I've been driving my normal conservative 5-10 MPH over (if that), regardless of the traffic.

That's been my driving style for a long time.  I think it's actually safer than going the limit (or under).  You have only a marginal chance of a ticket, but a better chance of not getting hit by the 33% that always go 5-20 over.

I hot-rodded for many years, and learned to constantly look for cops.  Now I'm old and take it easy, but I still look for cops.  Old habits die hard (and pay off from time to time).  Smiley

I still see in my area the same local cops sitting in their normal spots running radar, but I think more and more are not pulling over people doing over say 5-10 mph as much, but still sitting there running radar.

The town 5 miles north of me better NOT go over 40 in a 35 mph speed zone he will stop you going 42 mph and ticketed for sure or at least use to?

The last few times that I've been out there didn't seem to be many police out.

This Saturday I saw a few out on our ride.

Most of my riding has been on the back roads and in less populated areas.

Yesterday, I had to use the Interstate.

The traffic was fairly light but the police presence was the heaviest that I've seen it in awhile.

I didn't see them with anyone pulled over though.

For the most part it’s life as usual in my area, at least from my perspective. Of course the restaurants are closed and a lot of other places I rarely ever visit. The most unusual aspect I noticed about 2 weeks ago. There were policemen at the entrances of Walmart and Kroger and they have maintained their presence since. In my limited travels I haven’t noticed much in the way of traffic enforcement. Our section of I75 is a racetrack where 80 is the minimum.

I haven't see many State LEO's out and about on my last several rides.   BUT then they don't tend to have traps set up on a lot of the roads I do ride on.  In my older age, I tend to ride about 5 over the limit, figuring on the error of our bikes, that is around 65 on 55 mph roads and 72-74 on 65 mph roads.  So far no LEO has had a problem with these speeds.   Only time Valk goes over these limits is when I move around another vehicle in my way.  Then she somehow this the 90 plus mark.  Yeah she still has it at 120K and 21 years old.

The City LEO's are out and moving around, haven't seen them giving any tickets.   Though last week there was a problem with a guy, his wife, and a AK47.   The problem didn't last long, he left this world.   Thankfully he drove out of town a ways.   This type of thing doesn't happen normally in our county.

Saw an article that said folks living together are having more issues, but being confined with someone 24/7 does put a stress on.
