I usually don't go to the dealership if I can help it. Don't mind them making money, but I usually leave frustrated more often than not. I'm just not a dealer type of person.

Today I wanted to find some magical compound to patch a plastic gas tank on a Dodge truck. I thought to myself, "hey, the Yamaha shop sells dirt bikes and has a motorcross track, they'll probably have something."  So I went.  I waved at the owner's son as I entered, he was on the phone(school yard classmate of mine).  I waved at the owner's wife, she's the finance person(she's in my college class). I do like the small town feel of the place.  I waded through the new bikes.  The've got the Kawasaki's closer to the entrance than the Big Dogs this year.
I went to the parts counter. I told them I wanted something to patch a plastic tank. They were completely honest. They didn't have anything like that.  The could understand why I would think that they might, but they usually just tell people to buy new gas tanks for the dirt bikes with plastic tanks and don't try to fix them. They then proceeded to tell me where in town they thought I could go to get it (to the auto parts dealer I was going to go to anyway). So they didn't have what I wanted, which is no suprise, but they were completely honest and knew what they had in stock, which is a change.

The bike doesn't need an inspection for a while. So it will probably be a while before I head back into the dealer. Atleast I'm honest too.

It's good to know what places you can trust and which you can't.  Especially if you personally know the owners.  They may not be able to help you, but its good to support them when you can to help keep the good guys in business.  We are good friends with the owner of a local honda dealer, and he always treats us like family.

Support the honest ones, weed out the lying cheaters  cooldude
