Bought a set of wheels for my 350Z, 'made in Chyna of course', before all this virus nightmare arrived on our shores. I got a bit curious about whether I could have had the option to choose wheels from India instead. They are "Replica" level wheels that you would not use on track days, but get good consumer ratings for normal street use. I did a quick search and didn't really come up with much.
It, like much of the custom auto aftermarket, might be a business opportunity for someone with deeper pockets and 30 years younger than me. I'm guessing India will be ripe to welcome entrepreneurs with such investment ideas, especially in light of our newly minted hatred for the CCP

Of course I don’t know but I would like to keep more of our market partners in our own hemisphere as much as possible. We need better relations with our neighbors both north and south.

I would like everything brought back to North American shores but I am afraid that is probably not realistic. And here is another thing as much of India transitions to 'first world'...1.4 billion future customers?

I have relatives that work for a major engine manufacturer.   That manufacturer does significant business in China and all over the world but, is in the process of "helping" India transform itself into a major player in their market.   The engines produced for India, China, European Countries and S. America are not engines we'll ever see in the US but, they are engines built for their specific applications.

I have no problem with India, they have some brilliant minds over there and no
official or unofficial desire to end the lives of myself or those I love
by any power in government. They are a democracy. They are not sharia. They are
not communist

That aside just the fact that China and Pakistan are their enemies is enough for me

Mexico may not be able to field a workforce to do what India is willing to do in
all endeavors.

Let the FAIR competition begin

Wonder what the covid toll will be there?

Auto mfg's have many times switched suppliers and even countries so this should be no big deal.

Just for clarification, my post was not against trade with India but more about a desire to see financial investment by American companies focused on our continent. India’s size and population put it in the same category as China but as long as we have fair trade it could be great. But we also know that at least half of Congress is more interested in America’s bowing down to the rest of the world than fair trade.

We've got the same ridiculous attitude in our "progressive" minded government as well, as though everyone else matters more than Western Society.  uglystupid2
