for granted.

One of my Harley riding buddies has been tiptoeing into retirement for the last couple years. First he cut back to 3 days a week. A year ago he cut back to 2 days. He lost a kidney to cancer 7 years ago. We have had many discussions about retirement and what we will do with our time. Here recently with all the Corona scare I've been telling him he should just get out now. With his kidney issues he is susceptible to things. He is concerned about the loss of wages.
Cut to a couple weeks back. He had a mini stroke and was in the hospital a couple days. He came back to work and seemed ok. But, I could tell something was different. A couple days ago he had a full on stroke. He gets out of the hospital in a couple days. But will need a walker and can't talk well. I'm afraid life will not be the same for him.

Things happen quick. Enjoy your family. Enjoy your life and the time we are given. His misfortune has reinforced my upcoming retirement greatly. Get out and ride gentlemen ! (And ladies)

Sorry to read about your buddy.  Life sure flows and unfolds, and plans and dreams aren't etched in stone.  Be grateful and breathe living in!   cooldude

WOW! I’m sorry about your buddy, that”s a terrible thing. I really hope he can recover from this. This is going to be a different and difficult new world for him and his family. It may be awkward for both of you at first but just be there as a friend, lend a hand however possible. I really wish a full and speedy recovery.

We are guaranteed nothing in life...only death. It’s times and situations like this that make one realize to take the bad with the good and make the best of every single day we possibly can. Unfortunately we all age and deteriorate physically and mentally and have limited precocious time here. Do your best every day possible, love much more than dislike or hate, fill your buckets as much as possible so when the time comes you can say “I did what I could and have no regrets”.

Again I’m really sorry for what happened to your friend, stuff like this sucks.

It is hard to get on with life, especially in states like MI with our dictator governor prohibiting motorized activities.  You can canoe, kayak, fish, run, and ride a bike.  No boats with motors or motorcycling though.  I retire again tomorrow.  Timing is everything.

I am extremely grateful for mine and my families health and financial situation.  I have been blessed and have no intentions of jeopardizing either.  I don't need some dictator governor telling me how to live my life.

Meat, I'm sorry your friend hasn't been allowed to enjoy the fruits of his years of  labor.  That is definately a depressing story.

You sure can't take anything for granted, STUFF happens. When it does you're attitude changes, don't sweat the small stuff.
