Guess my body abuses be catchin up with me and the bill could be a tad bit overdue. Bout a week ago my left hip joint lit up. And it did Not git any better. Called my V A Doc in a round about way-50 minutes later exactly from placing the call til I heard back thru his nurse-My Nurse. I went in and picked up at the front door a methylprednisolone pak of 4mg tabs. 6 of those little white pills the first day then in a descending order 5 4 3 2 1 on the following days. Last night I actually Slept and only woke up once. And My Nurse has informed me that after X rays and all the current crapola settles down just might be lookin at a hip replacement. After talking with Ross-my Brother da prez-and figuring it out he reminded me what I did for a living-drove 18 wheeler all over the country and what did that entail? Clutching multiple times during the day/week/month/year and in Heavy urban traffic. And clutching using the left leg. Same leg used in drag cars dirt roundy round cars and other mechanical race use. Just fer yuks and giggles went out and threw a leg over and attempted to bring Phatt Ghurl up offin the side stand! Wern't purty atall. Do NOT even want to contemplate the consequences should my hip quit out tween lost and found and wherever. Oh well what ever do Not kill me makes me stronger I've heard. RIDE SAFE.

Dennis, ask the dr. if he does the anterior method for hip replacement. I was walking w/o assistance in ten days when outside, in the house was mostly from about day four.

I had them both done Dennis, anterior cut is the way to go! I was walking a mile in 10 days, riding after 6 weeks. Get it done & take as gospel what the PT tells you! Craig

Yeah John part well most of what we talked about was the actual procedure itself And how many a day the surgeon does. While it is Not a done deal yet my Nurse figures from her years of experience it is leaning towards replacement. Maybe Just maybe I'll become a member of the bionic club yet! The fly in the ointment IS this c19 bull poop kaka. I basically told the Doctors and Nurses lessin I'm on deaths doorstep rather NOT go to Any hospital bout now. Even after "they" say c19 contained i WILL be skeptical. RIDE SAFE.

While I have no idea what your local hospitals are doing for the beer bug, I was recently in a local ER and was forced to have surgery on an ankle ten days ago. I generally avoid hospitals and doctors as a rule since that is where sick folk go and I have no desire to share their disorders. I was impressed by the facilities professionalism and concern for preventing the spread of said beer bug. (Even though they had a Therma-King refer parked at the ER.) Granted that here in the land of cheddar we only seem to have less than 1% infection rate and the "experts" seem to think we are now on the backside of the beer infection.
I have had both knees replaced and from those experiences echo the refrain about taking PT as gospel.
As a side note, when sliding around a corner that is full of gravel, try not to get your foot stuck under the footrest. Side-side note, the lady never went down but it was a painful ride to the ER.

My left side do seem to be takin a bit more punishment then the right side be takin. And as i'm guessing now my warranty might be past what could be spected. Really NOT grousing here But WHY do "stuff" seem ta happen just before ridin season be gittin good? Well this to shall pass! RIDE SAFE. Get 'er done and get better, O2S, you're burning daylight. My dad also did the anterior technique, and was happy with the result . Less deep cutting of muscle and tissue, quicker recovery. Best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.

Caution caution caution. Lets Not jump the gun here. Key words-might maybe possibly surgery. Nuttin carved in stone yet. Granted I have NO desire to stay on yet another drug therapy. I'm also not Really happy with the discomfort involved when the hip lit up. And this chit IS cutting into my ridin time. At this point in time with c19 at the fore front of our lives drugs May be the best option for now. Played three different kinds of hades jut gittin done today what needed to be done. I now have a chair in my shower in case-you know like old fogeys do! And today was a chamber of commerce day here in SoMo. And the old frame I pass off for a body wasn't up to the enjoyable task of a ride. Well still kickin anywho. I'm guessin here but what my Nurse laid out V A Hospital in Poplar Bluff might only be doing emergency surgeries. Just hafta wait and see. Dang it-I WANNA RIDE! Carl-I now have a slight idea where you were coming from when you still had the surgical collar on in Wisconsin and you were about to-well did-throw a leg over T-birds cream and yellow. Yeah we-RIDERS-just might be half a bubble off plumb! RIDE SAFE.

I talked to my brother and informed him, anterior surgery. BUT , make sure the inscision is not done horizontally. I have a nicked nerve in my right hip , leg that causes issues. The inscision is easier for the surgeon, but harder on the patient. ASK questions and GET answers. Doctors are not gods.

https://steptohealth.com/quickly-regenerate-damaged-cartilage/ its what one eats that will allow repair. https://www.humann.com/nutrition/the-truth-about-collagen-and-joint-health/#section2As previously mentioned, your body starts losing its ability to generate and repair collagen in your 30s. We also discussed that collagen goes to where your body determines it’s needed. Your joints obviously need collagen, so your body will divert some amino acids there. The question remains though: will it make a difference? Here’s what the science says: A 24-week study involving collegiate athletes sought to determine if collagen hydrolysate (type ii collagen) could support joint health. 97 athletes completed comparative tests when at rest and moving to determine any differences between placebo and collagen. Researchers found that collagen is effective at supporting joint health—whether at rest or when a joint is doing work. A study with 250 people taking collagen peptides over a 6 month period also showed collagen can support joint health. However, it was noted people with lower protein intake prior to the study saw better results. Two randomized controlled trials sought to discover the impact of collagen peptides over a 12 week period. In this case, two different groups were tested to determine if age could be a factor: one with a mean average of 24 years, and another at 50 years. Both studies found collagen supported joint health whether activity- or functional-related. I use Great Lakes hydrolysate which provides best absorption. The best price will be to order directly from them. sign up for emails they have sales every so often. https://greatlakesgelatin.com/collections/collagen/products/hydrolysate-single-can

Another supplement which is naturally in vegetables, animals and fruits but not at therapeutic levels. Methylsulfonylmethane, more commonly known as MSM, is a popular dietary supplement used to treat a wide array of symptoms and conditions. It’s a sulfur-containing compound found naturally in plants, animals and humans. It can also be produced in a lab to create dietary supplements in powder or capsule form. MSM is widely used in the alternative medicine field and by people looking for a natural way to relieve joint pain, reduce inflammation and boost immunity. In addition, research supports its use in treating a number of conditions from arthritis to rosacea. Studies have shown that MSM significantly reduces inflammation in your body. It also inhibits the breakdown of cartilage, a flexible tissue that protects the ends of your bones in joints (1Trusted Source). A study in 100 people over the age of 50 found that treatment with a supplement containing 1,200 mg of MSM for 12 weeks decreased pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints, compared to a placebo (2Trusted Source). The group receiving the supplement also reported improved overall quality of life and less difficulty walking and getting out of bed https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/msm-supplements#section8
