Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: April 18, 2020, 11:17:04 AM »

First I want to thank Reb again for helping me with my bike Thursday. Friday morning we rode out of his hometown of Greeneville , Tennessee. Greeneville was home to President Andrew Johnson who some claim is the worse President in American history. In his defense he took over after that murdering prick Abe Lincoln was exterminated and had to deal with the aftermath of The Civil War.

Just a heads up anyone wanting to ride The Snake Highway 421. The Country Store in Shady Valley is closed down and the building is for sale.

Backbone Rock Recreation Area is located along Beaverdam Creek in northern Johnson County. Backbone Rock gets its name from a spur ridge on Holston Mountain that abrubtly ends at a bend in Beaverdam Creek.
A tunnel was drilled through the rock in 1901 to allow railroad access between Shady Valley and Damascus, VA. Motorists pass through what is known as "The Shortest Tunnel in the World" as they travel along TN 133. In the 1930s The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) developed the recreation area for day use, constructing two picnic shelters and hiking trails that incorporated native stonework. The campground was added in the 1960s and rehabilitated in the mid 1990s.

Great ride with a good friend and much needed. Got to get the Wing in some awesome twisties to check it out. Reb will be posting information on Hillbilly Highway 2020 soon.

He was the enemy of the Radicals, the architects of Reconstruction, in Washington.

Nice to some photos of nice sunshine and what looks like some warm weather. Weather here in NJ has been really weird the last few weeks. We’ve had overcast, cold, windy and rain with occasional sun. It seems more like how a typical March would feel instead of April.

The Wing looks good, how are you enjoying the new ride?

One positive in this situation is the roads have been trouble free and great to tour around on. Joe still have a hard time with you on a wing, the image just does not compute. LOL

Still own two Valkyries actually four I have two crashed bikes also. I will never sell my yellow Valkyrie I've had it since June 1998. I got a really good deal on the low mile Wing I couldn't pass it up. It's a sweet machine but it will never be as cool as a Valkyrie.

Got out for some wind therapy today (temps in the low 60's and 15-25 MPH winds - just right for a Jean Jacket at highway speed). My medium loop up to KCI airport and home.

Always appreciate the history you add to those ride reports.

A truck, boat, lots of motorcycles the list goes on.

It must be good to be Smokinjoe these days when you aren't working 80 hr weeks

Just hoping I can throw my left leg over the bike soon

Nice post, nice pics, nice bikes cooldude
The legend continues on the newer easy care fuel injected models. They look sharp together, two great colors.

That 3rd pic especially, is a great one. Thanks for posting up your ride...the few all too brief passes I've had through the SE US region have always left me wanting for more. Hopefully things return to at least  some resemblance  of normalcy in the not too distant future where I can again plan to  make trips down there.  Wing looks good...so does the B...I can see myself on either of those bikes one day...maybe Wink

I did think about that after I posted then I knew Whiskey Man was smart enough to rotate his phone or tilt his head.
