Wish I was out riding...

No idea why I was missing but I am back.   Actually I do know but we can just call it bull$hit.

Good news it that I have now hired my compliment of engineers.  Young kid just started yesterday which was strange as he was in a very large building with no-one else there other than the HR director.   Very bizarre I imagine.   Now he can work remotely.   Sean reminds me of me 35 years ago and I see him becoming my right hand man so I will be able to catch a breath.

Will be checking in each morning now.  You may wish that I had stay missing Wink

Been watching some of my retirement vaporize Sad   Some coming back but a bit disconcerting.

My company furloughed all manufacturing for 6 to 8 weeks.   Fortunately our parent company has funded the product development that I am on for about 2 years but without any other income coming in, it will be scary in about 8 weeks.  Our customers are not buying because they cannot go out and do customer installs at their customers because of all of this $hit.

The mitigation of this situtation may be more fatal than the disease Sad

Maybe you should step out of the work force, so you and Trudy can spend and enjoy that "vaporizing retirement" before it turns to dust !!!  coolsmiley

Health insurance would quickly vaporize the remaining Terry.  I am still youngun with going on 58 in September.  To much time to carry the load I am afraid.

The good news is the kid I hired I think is going to do real good and allow me to offload some stuff.  Yesterday he found some things done a certain way, questioned it, researched it, and came up with a possible change on on his own, without being told.   It was something that I had done even.  Of course I had good answers for the what and why but this is what I told him:

Quote
It is good to question what is done, why it is done, etc.  It is quite probable that taking a fresh look at something will yield new information, new directions to persue, etc.   So continue to not be bashful!

It is refreshing to work with someone who is not afraid to learn someting new and dive in head first.  I had some of that at iDevices and those kids were very educated with multiple higher level degrees, doctorates, etc. but not much practical knowledge nor work ethic to go above and beyond what was asked.

The funny thing that I am having to explain is to some of others why the new kid is going to be doing the complicated and tricky system level work and they are going to be doing the more mundane work.  Unfortunately they have had +20  years of working with me have had multiple opportunities to show what they can do since I have come back and it just is not working out.
