I broke an old filled molar off, with dental floss two weeks ago.  Right thing, wrong result.  So while social distancing face to face down at dentist's office this morning (a good friend on hard times), I got to get a crown (but no root canal - yea!).  His bookkeeper is still out and I offered cash (and to settle up later), but he wouldn't take it.  Good man.  Of course, the Novocain won't wear off until next week (slobber).

So I'm out in the yard a few days ago working with a heavy tool (with gloves), and when the work breaks loose, I smack my right pointer finger (outside knuckle) and cut it to the bone.  Cuts at joints won't heal if you keep flexing them, so despite my best efforts (and inability to find my finger splint), no riding allowed though these are the best spring days of the year.  But I'm still good with the remote and the mouse.  Besides keeping your finger off the trigger, it's hard to work with a hand, and try to remember to keep one finger straight (a big tight band-aid over the joint helps).

Some dickweed ran his/her shopping cart into my new truck.  It all rubbed out with no dents.  But I'd still like to have a (one sided) discussion with him/her.  So which car out here is yours!?

I bought some nice big goose down & feather pillows (my favorite kind) a month ago, and now it's time for the washer, and holy crap it looks like some birds passed away in my pillow cases.  Achoo.

I'm such a whiner.

Just remember, it's always better to be pissed off than to be pissed on.

Yeah, I was down at the huge DC fireworks years ago, and when the rockets explode with the glittering gold-dust waterfall effect, I said... Wow, look at those golden showers. That brought a lot of laughter and ribbing from my buddies.  We were all inebriated on beer and patriotism.

The only golden showers I do ..... is on my shoes.   Grin

Get out and ride. Pointer finger would be easier to Deal with than the middle finger. I rode for months with a stiff middle finger.

Not always the case Serk.   I still remember a loser temp co-worker lady in her 20's about 7 years ago where I use to work told me (I was in SHOCK) that she likes to get pissed on by her boyfriend.  I sure hope in the shower?   Roll Eyes   She was not horrible looking but I still do not get it at all and why she told me that in the first place.  I was shocked like I said so did not comment just ignored her that evening, very odd to just out of the blue say something like that to a co-worker.   Shocked     This younger generation must like getting into some kinky stuff nowadays?   Roll Eyes

speaking of cutting your finger to the bone.   I was outside messing with my flat bed trailer with 2 ATVs on it about a decade ago and smashed luckily only my pinky finger inner knuckle bend in the joint having the trailer roll forward pinning luckily ONLY pinky finger somehow between the tongue of trailer and truck hitch trying to hook it up.  It was about 2000lbs. of rolling force on my pinky knuckle in the joint and took entire skin off darn near to the bone smashing it was bad blood gushing everywhere for such a small pinky finger.  I did not do much beside put pressure on it and gauze pad and tapped it up.  I probably should have gotten stitches going to Dr. since it took over 1 month to heel up and will forever have a permanent scar in that joint on the right pinky finger.  Man that thing throbbed for a few hours afterwards.   Do stupid stuff not paying attention get stupid prizes I guess?   uglystupid2

OH yah,  do NOT smash your fingers loosing fingernail of my thumb twice once closed a heavy duty file safe closing it completely on my thumb did not get it out in time (IDIOT) cussing like a son of a _itch at work in backroom throbbing for hours as well as NEVER stick a finger in the grooves of your garage door coming down in the ribbed sections which while going down closes flush, once again winning the IDIOT prize.  Both times I swear I got my fingers out in time but both times did not.   uglystupid2

Do tell?   I must have led a sheltered life indeed compared to some?   Smiley

I am sure that will be the 1st time and last time I hear that from any female...

Was honing a 12 inch straight edge bread knife on my high speed buffer once when the buffer grabbed the blade and spun it around into my pinky finger.  It was already razor sharp.  Cut to the bone, lucky it didn't amputate.  Bleeding bad, put pressure on and told wifey this one will need attention.  Went to the emergency room and after they insisted on doing paperwork while I'm bleeding ("Try not to bleed on the carpet and close the door when you leave" - Delbert) their next step was to lecture me on suicide.  Yeah my plan is to kill myself as slow as possible by bleeding out from my pinky.  They finally debrided the wound (there was nothing in it), x-rayed to check the tendon, taped it shut then issued a bill for $4000.  WOW this kind of medical used to be a tenth of that.  Thinking on it I should have been surprised they didn't demand the money up front with the lecture.  Yep I do have insurance, I said take that up with United Health (Don't) Care.  I have a nice scar to go with my others, all with stories.

Speakin of golden showers, I told my grandkids to go potty BEFORE they get in my hot tub.  Notice my sign -

"Enjoy our SA.  Notice there's no "P" in it - keep it that way"

I test this water frequently and P shows up like a red flag.  If I detect pee I'm going to blame you because grownups don't do that so you better hope NO ONE pees in my hot tub - any pissers are BANNED.  "That's not fair".  RULE NUMBER ONE - The world is NOT fair.  Time to grow up and understand that.

Injuries ?  Every day almost. Always a black nail or ripped/torn nail or some cut or contusion from being stupid. Maybe the worst was sticking a screwdriver through my right eye. Just another day in the life.

Get out and ride. Pointer finger would be easier to Deal with than the middle finger. I rode for months with a stiff middle finger.

A hard or even medium closed finger grip kept opening the wound again.  A stiff finger would not do that.  Immobilization and minimum use for a week will see it knitted, and it's almost there.

If I had known that water sports would be the spin-off of my thread title, I would have changed it to - Things that irritate me.  Although I suppose then the discussion would turn to too much starch in your underbritches or jock rot.  Grin

-----
Years ago, I nearly cut off my left ring finger (last joint) in a chipper (not a clean cut, it was jaggedly ripped off).  It was just held on by skin on one side.  It took the whole day in the ER, and the rookie resident spent a long time cleaning and artfully stitching it back on all the way around the finger.  He said it was good practice for him and thanked me for the opportunity;  he said it probably wouldn't heal, and if it didn't I'd have to come back for another surgery to remove it, and use a skin flap to cover the amputation.  By the end of the day, it looked like they'd sewn a corpse's dead back fingertip on me.  But with a splint and care, it did heal and didn't fall off (though there was almost no feeling in it, and it took years for that to come back).

Fast forward three months, and my mom and dad came to visit at Christmas.  My garbage disposal took a dump, and my dad said he knew just how to fix it, but that he was too old to lay down there under the sink so he would coach me through it.  So I got a replacement and was stripping the ancient electrical tape off the old harry homeowner wiring with a razor utility knife and don't you know, I slipped off the work and cut the same finger to the bone, this time at the second knuckle.  He said I was going to need a stitch or two for it to heal, so he drove me over the same ER.  When I finally got seen, it turned out to be the same doc who had sewn the tip on three months earlier.  He admired his previous work and said I was lucky it healed up good.  Then he examined the new injury and looked at me and said..... Jess, if you really don't want this finger, I can take it off for you clean without all the aggravation, pain and suffering you are causing.

Everyone's a comedian.

In my younger working days, I was working on getting a wench cable out. This pickup truck was not mine.   Had heavy later gloves, and a partner sitting in the cab.   The cable was twisted/crossed up and couldn't pull it out.  The wench didn't have a reverse on it and one would put it in neutral to pull out.  Didn't  know that it didn't have a reverse at this time.  Since I had the drum loosen a bit told my partner to it the button, think the wench would start unwinding the cable.  He didn't hear me correctly, as he was talking to the young lady who had screwed up the cable, so it hit the button and the cable went in, not out.   I had a good hold of the hook, and let go almost as soon as it could.  Wasn't fast enough.  The cable/hook tore the index finger off the glove and opened up the inside of by finger.   I could see the tendons working when I moved the finger.   Two hours (had to wait on doc to sew up finger) and 40 stitches later was feeling a lot better.   Had my finger in a splint for a week or so, then got a funky splint with a spring to start moving/strengthening finger.  I was more worried that this accident would effect my ability to pull a trigger.
