The bike is running really rich and I was going to attempt to work on it myself but decided I am not mechanically inclined enough.

If anyone wants to drive to the Morgantown, WV area and sync my carbs I will pay them.

Oh yeah.  the bike backfired today when I was trying to warm her up.  Could that be a result of her running rich?

i was going to send mine in to get the same thing done, however, it was done once by Honda before and made you gag from the fumes. Rich wasnt the word for it. I found Dag's video for tunning the carbs, spent about $90 dpllars for the gauges, only (4) and followed the instructions in the service manual and was done in about 1 hour. 1st time for me, but now i can do it myself.  uglystupid2

I saw the sets of 4 on ebay and sets of 2.  I have been tempted to buy enough for all 6 and mount on my own board.

My eyes burn if I am in the garage with it running for more than 2-3 minutes.

Funny thing, I tried to get it to backfire again and noticed my petcock turned OFF.  I turned it to ON and could not get it to backfire again.

I guess it was running lean from the lack of fuel...kinda odd, maybe I am wrong.

The backfire could be from any number of things, running rich not withstanding.

Why do you think it is running rich?

What work has been done to the carburetors?

Has any work been done to the other associated areas. Like desmog, exhaust, air intake or ignition?

Have you done any analysis on the motor. Like compression testing? Have you looked at the plugs?

Why do you think a synchronization will cure the richness problem?

I bought the bike in Aug 2008 and spent the majority of time with it here in the USofA and me in Afghanistan.

I always wanted someone to do a good once over on the engine to make sure everything was running at its best.

I am no mechanic and cannot tell you anything about the bike other than it is not a California model and does not have the smog stuff on it.

The reason I think it is running rich is it burns my eyes if it is in the garage running for 2-3 minutes with me.

It runs great once it warms up but is a little rough getting started.  The gas mileage is around 25 mpg which I am going to add a 6 deg trigger and dyna3000 to hope to help.

You may want to do some research on the Tech. board before installing both the 6 deg. wheel and the Dyna 3000 ICM. With the Dyna you can get just about any advance ignition curve you want, and some of the riders have had problems mixing the 6 deg. wheel and the Dyna. I don't have either and get mid-upper 30's mpg, often over 40 on the sideroads instead of the interstates because I'll run more in the 60-65 mph range. I have a 4 deg. wheel, an I/S ICM and carb springs, K&N filter without the prefilter, and Viper Innovations aftermarket exhaust. Over two years ago I changed the slow jets from #35 to #38 and set the pilot jets to two full turns out. I just metioned all that so you have something to compare to.

I'm glad I did some more reading.  I missed all the talk in the last 3 months about the 6deg TW having problems with the DT3000.  I have the same NON-Airlake TW that Chillerman has which would have resulted in the same problems.

I think I will just use the stock TW and the DT3000.  I will change the slowjets to 38's though and add I/S springs while I am into the carbs.
