https://www.nj.com/coronavirus/2020/06/nearly-80-of-nj-coronavirus-deaths-have-been-residents-65-years-old-and-older.html

“ Nearly 80% of the 11,970 deaths attributed to the coronavirus in New Jersey have been residents 65 and older, with the outbreak especially ravaging the vulnerable population in longterm care facilities in the state.”

“ “Seventy-nine and a half percent of the fatalities are of our older brothers and sisters of the age of 65 and older,” Murphy said.

Nearly half of the deaths — 47% — were of residents 80 or older.

At least 5,128 residents at New Jersey’s longterm care facilities, such as nursing and veterans homes, have died from complications related to COVID-19 That’s about 43% of the state’s lab-confirmed deaths.”

I see the great disparity in the severity of cases. From virtually no symptoms at all, to mild, to moderate, to lethal.

The lethal cases seem to be more in nursing homes and longterm care places.

We seem to be just chalking this up to people being old and unhealthy and that surely doesn't help.

But I think it is the wearing of masks. I'd be pretty sure residents of these facilities are required to wear them.

If you get infected by a small amount of virus as compared to a sustained dose of the virus over the course of a couple of weeks would you find yourself to be having the more severe and possibly lethal cases when having the sustained and long term exposure? Seems logical.

If you are contagious you are contagious to me and to yourself. If you are wearing a mask and are contagious wouldn't you be constantly dosing yourself with the viral contagion?

If nursing home residents are getting infected and are required to wear masks are they lethally dosing themselves with the virus?

I put it out there so if people want to make comparisons to their own state or local statistics and come to their own conclusions.
