Yeah , if they actually disband the police force, I predict a mass exodus from the city - the inevitable consequence of rioting and nothing to answer it.

It wasn't that long ago, maybe a couple of months ago before the virus hit, there was a big debate about hiring more police officers in Mpls because of the increase of violent crimes. https://www.startribune.com/residents-in-crime-weary-areas-wade-into-minneapolis-police-staffing-debate/563418752/

Where are the real residents of those towns and cities who want and demand real law enforcement.
This isn’t over. I don’t think they’re going to slide this by the taxpayers and then there’s the lawsuits to come if they try it.
I have to add to this. Disbanding the police will lead to old school Mafia style tactics in communities.
Protection rackets will pop up on the streets and businesses will be held hostage to local thugs and gangs to keep stores and shops from being destroyed.
Gang wars will erupt over who runs which areas. Which businesses will be allowed in their neighborhood and who will need to pay to work in those communities.
Finally good luck getting insurance companies to insure your city without HUGE increase in premiums, if they insure at all. That not only goes for the city itself but for private residents, businesses as well as automobile insurance.

local police to be replaced by Senator Obama introduces the idea of a Civilian National Security Force. originally read about this plan in the late '90s. it is a Un globalist agenda. most of the force will be composed of foreign nationals and run by foreigners. their allegiance will be to the UN. The history behind efforts to nationalize police forces should also spark alarm over Obama’s plan. It is worth recalling that Communist efforts to nationalize local police forces across the United States date back to at least the 1960s. Toward that end, communist agitators, along with their front groups and useful idiots, have long created problems or exploited existing ones to drum up hatred and violence against police. In recent anti-police marches, communist-made signs and slogans were visible everywhere. But it is hardly a new development. In an official 1961 report entitled “A Communist Plot Against the Free World Police,” the Judiciary Committee of the U.S. Congress explained how communist agents across the West were working to nationalize and federalize police forces — with a special focus on the United States. The explosive study documents, among other elements of the strategy, the forming of mobs to attack police. Obama’s own radical background and associations with communist terrorists — including launching his political career in the home of Castro-backed terrorist leader Bill Ayers — should provide further cause for concern. His racialist anti-police comments, blurted out every time a suitable incident emerges to be exploited, should also offer warnings of the true agenda. https://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/crime/item/20305-obama-unveils-plan-to-further-nationalize-local-police

LEOs to enforce local laws should be hired / fired / controlled from the local governement. State and National laws should be enforced by the authorities at those levels. We don't need any "Civilian National Security Force" if its done this way.

Listening to Democracy Now radio.
BY ACCIDENT IN MY CAR.
One of the council members asked why it was necessary for an armed person to be asked to respond to a mental health call.
I think the council members need to respond to all the calls for the first month.

If they could not control the riots how are they going to control anything else?
Sometimes you have to let people run their course and get what they deserve by the taste of reality.

WTTW News obtained a recording of an online conference call held by the mayor’s office to brief all 50 aldermen on the city’s response to the unrest touched off by the death of George Floyd in the custody of Minneapolis police.
While one alderman wept, others grew angry with the mayor, demanding to know what her strategy was to stop the violence that began in earnest late Saturday.

I can fully understand their pulling out and leaving. If the city and the citizens are willing to let your business and hard work be destroyed, I'd go somewhere else, too. Back in 1979 - 1980, Roots came on TV. It was a multipart series about an "actual" families story from being captured in Africa and the following several generations that lived through slavery. It caused a lot of the same feelings that we are hearing today. There were even many pop-up riots here and there. That summer, in the town of Monticello, NY (the capitol of the Catskill mountain region) there was one of those riots. Of course looting and burning occurred. Till this day, there are still empty lots where businesses once stood along Broadway in the business district. 40 years ago, still empty lots. People burned and destroyed and stole from the same stores they shop in daily. Now THAT'S gotta be a real punch in the face. This isn't a big town, a little bigger than Mayberry, maybe. Would be like Opie and his friends busting out Floyd's windows and stealing his hair products and clippers then setting the place on fire.

I got this 2nd hand but came from a Friend of mine. Where the looting and fires had taken place-I can't recall where-some of the big box stores that were torched are Not returning. They don't want us here we Will go where we are appreciated. Heard of a Man of Color that had sunk his entire life savings in a Bar he had dreamed of owning and bought it. It was burned to the ground. I did NOT get involved in any "protests" and they had a "protest" in West Plains Mo. but had I been there I would have asked the "protesters"-Did you know the man? Most likely answer would be No. Then WHY I ask are you out here? I M H O the cop that kneeled on George Floyd's neck was FAR Beyond Wrong. I also realize had George Floyd Not perished at the hands of the cops and the cop had let Mr. Floyd up after he cuffed him a minor neck kneel would have been-news at 10-and NOT been seen on another "news" cycle. I still DO NOT git folks murdered during the "riots/protests" and the looting and burning of buildings. Is this some of the-new normal-I keep hearin bout? If so PLEASE return to sender quadruple my share. RIDE SAFE.

Would be like Opie and his friends busting out Floyd's windows and stealing his hair products and clippers then setting the place on fire. Here in N.J. the summer of 1970 at the Jersey Shore in a town called Asbury Park there were the riots. I was 5. We live about 30 minutes from there. I didn’t read the paper then but do remember seeing photos and hearing the adults talk about what they’re doing to that town. Since we lived so far from there we never had a reason to go there, our town and local beaches were good enough for fun and there was plenty of shopping in our town as well as neighboring towns. When I was about 10 my step-mother had a doctors appointment in Asbury Park and I got to see first hand whaat things looked like. About 10-15 years ago Asbury Park began a slow rebirth, construction, rejuvenation of old buildings, bars and restaurants opening, businesses opening. The school system was crap too and still isn’t great. Progress slowly returned and in the last few years picked up steam. There are still sections that are “not where you want to be” but it’s been decades and the only people that were hurt were the ones who lived there. These protests and riots are the demise of a city setting things back, not forward and the people are not vested in their communities, it’s doubtful they own a business or a home so destroying another person’s property has no meaning to them. Tearing something down is easy, building something from the ground floor is the hard part. Do any of them even want to try? These people rioting, looting, burning and destroying, would they do that to their own parents, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts or other relatives businesses or property or would they defend it? I’m at a complete loss at what I’m witnessing around the country. These politicians giving in to the demands of the minority who want things their way or no other way at all. Allowing the destruction of businesses and property in their communities to appease who, crybaby teens and thugs who think it will be cool to have the police gone. Good luck with that. Sorry but I have to add on to this. A couple months ago I wrote that other countries are taking notice on how and what our response times were to C19, now they’re taking notice on how fast our government leaders surrender their towns at the whim of some civil unrest and how quite the members of the House of Representatives and Congress is as well as the state legislatures. I beginning to believe if there was to be a war here, this is how it would begin and it’s sad to see how fast town and city leaders cave in and surrender.

There is a record of cops now putting in for retirement. I don't blame them.
As far as I'm concerned, the neighborhoods that don't want the cops, leave them out of that area. Let them fend for themselves until they change their minds. I know its a minority that is pushing this agenda but do for awhile anyway.
We had protests in our little upstate city. I guess we were ready for it. They came in from the larger cities. The police dept emptied the parking lot and had the swat team on the roof. A friend has 2 restaurants one of which next to the police. Several of us stood outside guarding and when the outsiders pulled up to park they were told to keep on going. When they started to complain and say they were going to do what they wanted. The shirts were raised and side arms shown and the shotguns were brought up from behind the chairs and set on the outside tables. They got in their cars and left. There was no trouble in town.

That happens that whole city will be like Gary IN before you know it
My Dad was a cop in Gary back in the 50s & 60s. I remember well "the Region" although not so fondly. The main thing I learned watching the decline of a once thriving city is that when the decay started, those who could leave did: Those who couldn't became either the criminals or the victims. There was no middle ground. It will be interesting to watch the further/faster decay of these once thriving cities.
