Well, after wanting for a long time, and wanting to spend money, I finally bought a drone. Price I felt was reasonable for one with options that I knew used to be only on those for 2-4x the amount I paid for it, $235 CAD delivered. I've seen what Serk has done with his.

The fun part starts. Now I'm looking into what I need to do to legally fly it, and now figure why did I bother!

Anyone here in Canada have gotten their license yet? Give any advise, forget the reading and just fill in the forms?

I've found the drone page, and started to follow one link at a time and read the pages. Seems at the end of this I would be better off to pursue a pilots license instead!

Just as a FYI, I live under the Vancouver airport flight path, I can shoot at the planes as they go over  head, so I will not be using it at home at all. This was for travel, rally, hopefully some nice moving rider pics.

I always thought it would be cool traveling places in the wilderness going over places unable to in a boat or vehicle or on foot, etc.    Knowing me though I would crash it after 1 flight and wasted 200-300 bucks am sure.

looking forward to future videos!

Views from above, like you said, places you can't go. Ya, stuff like that is what I want it for. It also has a follow mod. I suspect the max speed is the 7m/s.

From watching youtube, you would be surprised how many the divers find on the bottom of the water. I'm going to add a couple of bladders, so it will float. I might not be able to get to it, but at least it wont sink.

A driver of ours used it on a winter road trip. He got to the tail end of an accident/road closed, and flew it up to the front to see what happened. It was the trailer I was following and had just passed going up the hill, that slipped on the spot I almost did too, going down the back side of the hill. Then he lost the drone in Okanagan Lake the next year. $1200 drone, gone.

I had one and after a few weeks and many flights flew it into a tree.

A bit of fun and a few photos of my house for $100.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck..... In the drone groups I'm in a LOT of Canadian drone owners have just given up and sold their drones due to incredibly onerous laws to legally operate a drone in the Great White North..... Sad

The impression I got was that if you try to really follow the letter of the law it's almost impossible to operate a drone at all in Canada.....

(Not a slam, just an observation....)
