So, I'm reading this article at lunch

https://www.stamfordadvocate.com/news/article/Police-detain-armed-militia-members-after-man-is-15342993.php

and from the headline and the way it starts out it leads you (we me anyway) to believe that the militia started sh !t at a protest and was arrested.  When you actually read the whole article, it appears that the militia was actually keeping the peace and was taken to task for it.  Media like this is part of the problem.

I haven't read the article but I'm with you on the media being "part of the problem"!! (or most of the problem)

I can always tell when Trump is doing something good because there will be many "bad Trump" stories on Yahoo news!!

From the article, so it leaves no doubt about what is thought.

The heavily armed individuals who flaunted themselves at the protest, calling themselves a 'civil guard,' were there for one reason: To menace protesters, to present an unsanctioned show of unregulated force," New Mexico Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said in a statement. "To menace the people of New Mexico with weaponry - with an implicit threat of violence - is on its face unacceptable; that violence did indeed occur is unspeakable."

Michelle Lujan Grisham is the thirty-second governor of the state of New Mexico, the first Democratic Latina to be elected governor in U.S. history.

You see people who by any standards do the right thing are heralded as menacing the protesters. Now that is why Trump could not send in the military because the right has now become the wrong and if you do the right thing it is viewed as an act of aggression. Regardless if the protesters are doing general mayhem and illegally destroying a statue. This is the nasty game this whole situation has become.

As far as the actual shooting, hard to tell what happened before (But I've seen snippets) but from the short clip I've seen, it looks justified. Someone trying to leave the "protest" while another man swinging a skateboard at his head screaming "I'm going to *()#@$@ kill you" gets shot.

Haven't found a non-Facebook link for the video yet, I don't think you need a FB account to see it though. Obviously, naughty language.
