Me too neither.
Asked a financial guy, he said he knew of people whose last name started with "M" that had not received it - I'm an "L".
Normally, I get about $100 federal tax refund, but 2019 had special life events and I ended up owing $$$ to the feds. Mailed it in 10 days ago, maybe when they process that it will be sent but who knows. Can't get any sort of answer. Been at the same address 21 years, pretty sure they know how to find me...

One of the FAQs says something about stimulus payment may be delayed while 2019 returns are processed. But I know many people that did not even file 2019 returns who got the check...

GiG, from my LIMITED understanding of this process….did you pay or get a refund for 2018?   If you got an electronic refund the government has your banking info and can send you the money; if you paid, then they have no way to send it to you electronically which is how many folks have gotten them so far.  You can provide your banking info to the IRS online and they should send you the money (that’s what I did and I got the money in about 7 days after providing the banking info).  If they don’t have this info from your 2018 return they are supposed to issue a hard copy check but those may not arrive until as late as September.

This was suppose to be based on your 2019 return and for those that filed early - Jan/Feb/Mar they used your 2019 data.  Since MANY folks were opting to wait and file their 2019 based on the extension deadline (July 2020) the government opted to
use their 2018 return information to get the money out to folks ASAP.

Good luck buddy !

bassman - thanks for the info! I can wait till September for paper check, no prob, but it would be nice to at least know that because it seems everyone else has already spent their stimulus...

2019 I had to pay, due to my dad dying and inheritance  and other complications.  Normally, I get a small refund.

2018 I got ~$100 refund from feds, paper check.

[rant]
I will NOT be giving them my electronic banking routing numbers ever again. Once burned and all. Had to close the bank account and ending up losing money due funds being illegally removed.

I don't think people realize that when you allow "Direct Deposit", it really means "Direct Access" to your banking, including completely random withdrawls!

wow,  really illegal funds being removed from your bank account due to giving the IRS your routing/bank acct number doing your federal taxes?   I thought that was secure?

Luckily,  we owe in about 1 grand to 2 grand every year not because we make tons of moeny but since I do not have enough withholdings taking out and will NOT be doing my 2019 taxes until another 2-3 weeks or so but best start NOW to get it going due July 15th I here this year.  I really should claim 1 exemptions vs. 2 to make the 1-2K check to feds more bearable everyyear.   Plus,  kids in college cannot deduct anymore either so who knows, maybe 2-3K owing in better NOT be.  We can do our own taxes, but DREAD doing them taxes is my least favorite thing to do had an income tax class in college major accounting and dreaded it then as well in 1990, still do today.  Some people love doing them, but not too many that I know, expecting a big refund I guess?

as far as that 2400 stimulus check,  YES,  I got a check in the mail  being married filing joint and that 2400 will probably all be eaten up given right back to the federal govt. in another 1 month tax time deadline so BREAK even there goes my stimulus paying it right back in to the feds.   2funny   At least I put it all in our checking account to draw .15 % interest for a month or two.....   2funny

Didnt get a check but a pre paid visa card. I activated it and took it to my bank and had them transfer funds into savings. Didn’t want (cuz I know who’s paying it back) nor need it. But will probably spend most on ammo and weapons Evil

nope, court still closed nothing really coming in but I go to work each day anyway.

It is an excuse to ride the motorcycle and just talk to clients  about what is going on with them during the days.  People appreciate checking in and I have some appts for people who want to do their Will and Advanced Health Care directives. Small stuff

I betya Joe wants to know if I am running out of buried mason jars filled with lawyer loot, Well the back yard does look like gophers digging all over   tickedoff

Seriously, if it werent for the PPP loan I got the situation would be dire.  That money is gone used it for payroll

We got lucky and had almost the exact opposite scenario. We have had to pay for the last 10 or 12 years. Anywhere from $1200 to $1800. It drives my wife crazy, but I've always hated paying the government more than I owe for the year. I fully expected to send them another check this year and not be in their database for checking account. Low and behold me got an $800 refund this year. Online deposit and a few weeks later a online deposit of $2400 stimulus. The A/C company was enriched with our good fortune. (If I had the government experience you had, I'm sure I wouldn't give them my crap either)

Still don’t understand why anyone in their right mind would give the gov. Their bank
Account # as Serk said if they can deposit they can withdraw.

Hmmm, well, they have my checking account info as per our tax man. And we have to pay them every year.

Friends with last names starting with W have received Debit cards. Others with last names in the L's like mine have received checks or deposits.

We've been in the same place over 40 yrs.

So, I was just wondering. I'm [we're] one of those that really doesn't deserve this check so I'm not going to worry about it. I was just wondering.

I'm thinking JoAnn opened the mail, saw a debit card and not knowing what it was threw it out.

Last name starts with "L" Filed taxes in March and have direct deposit. Received electronic stimulus deposit 4/15/2020. Those funds were transferred to another account quickly. If they do decide to withdraw from that account, they won't get much  uglystupid2

LOL!  You really think the government needs you to tell them your bank info?  They have it already and they can use it at will.  The IRS simply needs you to tell them your account number to indicate that you've approved direct deposit and to which account.

Correct even on the State level. I worked for the Fla. Dept. of Revenue for 30 yrs. and getting a bank account for individuals or corp. was not a problem if really necessary. All we had to do was take our papers with us to show a "need" and make a quick stop at the courthouse. Next stop...the bank...or banks. I did investigative audits with law enforcement, mostly the FDLE but often the sheriff's dept. as well. I can recall one particular audit where the guy had something like seven different bank accts. in various states which he used to float funds in an attempt to create a paper trail unable to follow. If I had been unable to get our Federal connections through Tallahassee to obtain bank info, he would be walking free today. During the years I worked with the Feds, mostly the IRS CID, it was almost scary how easy it was for them to get the info and sources needed....much faster than what we had to go through on the State level.  Shocked
