Update on my new to me Valk and a shout out.

I am really amazed with this website and the knowledge available here. I was having a problem with what I thought was a slipping clutch problem. I picked up my low miles 2000 bumble bee a few weeks ago and have been  working on it feverishly to get it on the road...new hydraulics, brake pads, carb clean, new tires etc. etc. but also on hard acceleration the clutch seemed to be slipping and low and behold after searching here I discovered that a tiny teeny little hole in the clutch reservoir was plugged. I could not believe such a teeny plugged hole would make the clutch slip??? but it does, thank you VRCC.

This site is solid for Valkyrie information.

Funny thing is the long term guys on here seem to be much older then the guys buying up the Valkyries. It's a nice bike whether it is "modern" or not.

I feel in love with them the first time a saw one in 98 but was raising a family and couldn't afford one.  They have the power, comfort and the classic motorcycle look.  I don't understand how anyone could want anything more.

Over the years I have developed bad knee's and have been riding cafe racers pretty much my whole life but riding was becoming a pain. About 4 weeks ago I saw (noticed) my first Valkyrie in person and boom!  I found the two things I needed the bike and this site with it's plethora of knowledge and I knew with a little help I could keep this bike running for a long time. I'm old and my bike is old and that's okay.

I also saw my first Valkyrie around then, at first glance thought 'just another cruiser, probably another V-twin, ho hum' but something about it drew my eye and so I walked up closer and looked closer, and was boggled to see the flat 6 with individual carburetors and shaft drive. Took 20 years to find one and be in a position to buy it but it's a really unique model that ticks all of the boxes for me.

I saw my Valkyrie on FB market place. I though that's a nice looking bike. What Hell is going on with that engine? So I looked up the specs and thought, looks cool but it might be heavier then I want to deal with. Went and road it, next day I picked it up and in 8 months I've put 6,000 miles on the bike.

The Valkyrie for a big bike handles well, has a good amount of torque and most importantly is fatigue free to ride.  I don't even think about going on an hour ride somewhere and then an hour back. This is the most comfortable bike I have ever had.

I'm glad you discovered the bike and like it. Your last paragraph made me chuckle though. An hour there and back ? Man, you haven't really discovered these bikes yet. They will outdo you. I've had numerous 12 hour days, many 16 hour days. I wouldn't say they were completely fatigue free though.

Joining the cruiser group in 08' on Honda Shadow Network, the Valkyrie was highly admired within the ranks. When it was evident that the 1100 Shadow Ace T was going to be a hard find, the VTX 1300 was replacing the 1100 line, and the VTX 1800 is overly top heavy IMO, thus the season of 09' I seen my 1st. Valk in person but unemployed for whole year of 09' kinda put the thought on hold until 1/13. Most aftermarket items interchanged from the Spirit like Kury floorboards/ISO grips, the Mustang Vintage backrest pad, and tail bag. New shield, custom exhaust tips, handlebars (2x), 2002 model new seats, and saddle bags are about the only major add ons thus weighing in @ 800 lbs. fully geared to go.

Valk was a bucket list bike for me. Looked at a red and cream tourer Shortly after I learned to ride in 05 but was worried it might be too much bike for me as a novice and passed. Went through many other bikes even a wing or two before I circled back and got my IS. Added aftermarket cruise and it has been all that and more. Rode 2000 miles to the dragon, ran the twisties in and around there and rode it back 2000 miles. Best all around bike I’ve had and I’ve had a bunch.  Eventually I’ll supervalk it and maybe get an 1800 wing one day.
