Since no one has answered you I will at least ask a few questions.  Is it leaking from the petcock under the tank?  When you turn the fuel off at the petcock is it still leaking?  There are two hoses near the rear of the engine, one for each fuel rail.  If it is leaking out of one of those, one of your floats is not closing.
I don't currently have a Valkyrie but in the past have had several sets of carbs off and repaired them.  One set everything went fine afterwards until the fuel was turned on and vacuum applied.  Then one float stuck and fuel all over the engine so take it all apart again.  Frustrating, but I learned after that to test the carbs on the bench before installing them back on the bike.

Let me know where you’re located. I’m on the east coast (Ormond Beach) I may be able to help. Don’t mind riding to help out. Jim text me if you want. 386-679-4037  either way good luck with your surgery.
