Before anyone tries to bite my head off for not using the search function....I must have read through 20-30 threads about the 412s vs 440s vs 444s vs other brands, different spring rates, etc.

My ask here is simple. I don't need explanations of spring rates or which is better and which is worse. All I am asking for is if you have Progressive shocks, please answer the following:

A - Your Valk model/trim
B - Progressive shock model
C - Standard or HD (include spring rate or part # if you can)
D - Shock length
E - Your weight
F - Total weight for 2up riding and how often
G - In your opinion, is your set up too soft, too harsh, or just perfect for 1 up and 2 up riding?

I have 13 inch 440s. I ordered them with "regular" springs (or whatever
they called them) and paid after a while to send them back and get
HD springs. They're good for me (which is most of the time) and there's
no problem when Carolyn is on there. I'm 195 and have a Tourer, there's
usually some stuff in the saddlebags.

440's leaked, last time progressive could not rebuild.   $$ down the drain.
Now have 412's on an I/S 99% two up, Rider & passenger total weight 350#
I know, I know, everybody hates 412"s but I am Very happy with these shocks.
I will buy another set for the Std when I need shocks. YMMV  Smiley

On my Standard (setup as tourer) I have 444-4213C Chrome 13" Standard. I am around #200 and ride 1 up with normally full bags. I also tow when I camp. They seem just right for my needs.

I have a 97 Standard
Progressive 444-4213C
Standard springs 120-170
13"
Solo riding 160#, two up 360#
I can set proper sag of 1" both solo and two up and find the ride excellent. I'm very happy with the shocks.
In hind sight I probably could have gotten by with the heavier springs, say 140-200 and done just as well. I say that because when sag is set to 1" for solo riding the close coils of the springs are very near coil-bound. With the 140-200 springs I probably could have achieved correct sag for solo riding with more head room for heavier loads.
Still happy though since most of my riding is one up.

Had a set of #412's which started leaking within 2,000 mi. on the 1100 Spirit. I like the stock Showa's just fine but no longer available so......

Until I heard about progressive shocks I don’t ever remember even thinking about a shock leaking. When I sold the Bruce bike I had a choice. Sell with high mileage stock interstate shocks and keep the brand new progressive 412 HD 11.5 inch which rode great and made the bike look so cool. Or keep the old stockers and put the brand new progressive shocks back on for the sale.

I kept the stock shocks. I can’t see buying shocks that are almost guaranteed to leak eventually  smitten
