Getting my 97 Std back on the road after several years.  Made up a couple of switch mount pods for light bar switch and Dan-marc, used some aluminum plate - lots of boat builders here so easy to come by.  Mounted them on the inside of the batwing mounts.  Looking for any recommendations on something to protect the polished aluminum mounts.

Rustoleum clear spray properly used will give good protection.

Look into a pruduct used in the marine industry called, SharkHide. It comes in a cleaner and a protective coating. I've used it on my jeep's aluminum rims and Valkyrie rims. I've also used it on my saddle bag rails and the welds are not showing Any rust.

I used Mother's after clear powder coating ruined the polish job on one of my forks and I had to repolish it.  Maybe my technique was defective but I've been powder coating for years.  Little experience powder coating clear polished aluminum however.

I find polished aluminum is definitely sensitive to what you try to protect it with. Like Marks experience, try the wrong stuff and its out for another polish. For the moment, I m using a Chemical guys sealant, a blend of carnuba and polymer. Its more like a wax product.    And there's always lots of elbow grease...

- Mark , what is that headlight you are running? That's the first conversion I've seen that I actually like.
Looks very slick....Who is the vendor for that?

I've been using this   http://hitempinc.com/ht-62terminatorpaintsealantquart.aspx

works really well esp with a micro fiber cloth.

Glad they came out with it.  Didn't like all the LED fixtures with multiple emitters - just look contrived to me.  But needed to reduce the wattage after my 130/90 halogen and the halogen spots killed my alternator early on the Roanoke Inzane ride.  It's Eagle Lights, model is Infinity Beam.  They say it's their brightest.  Not sure it's as visible for safety and doesn't equal the 130 halogen high beam - but it's bright enough with the 2 LED H4's while the other 2 standard LED spots add to my visibility.  All 5 of them use less power than the one headlight did on high beam.  And all the other lights on Jade are LED - except the license light, kickstand and high beam indicators.  Need a round tuit for them.

Josh sells the Eagle brand.  He installed it with his adapter at Taos last year.  He calls this one the "Dragon's Eye."  OK.  Whatever.
