not for a good thing either:  yuppie young tubers going down the mighty sugar river

https://www.nbc15.com/2020/07/07/concern-over-weekend-crowds-at-tubing-business-in-albany/

watch the video is UNREAL waiting well over 2 hours to go down a 3-4 hour float down the mighty sugar river, WOWIEE!  If you really want to blind your eyeballs watching hoochee mommas over 200lbs. in a 2 piece thong go for it!   Shocked    A guy I use to work with got an eyeful and then some when he did it with a group of his and the out of towners youngsters mostly Madison WI area come down to Albany and they took off all their clothes while floating butt naked spread eagle in a floatty tube.  Nearly every single weekend the police or ambulance gets called down there somewhere along the river for medical attention either heatstroke, drunk, or broken body parts jumping off a tree alongshore into shallow water.  Am really surprised no one has been killed yet since happens regularly every single weekend.   A few long timers who have houses along the river are super upset picking trash they throw into their yard also.

Or,  I am just upset that I was not smart enough to think of this idea some 30 years ago when I still lived in that small town age 20 on down,  since have heard the owners clear 100K profit in only 3 months of work is all.  That is a TON of people mostly on weekends paying 20 bucks per tube and ride back to town.   WI Dells mega waterparks have nothing on this one horse town of Albany WI.  2funny

Would you wait in a line at any WI Dells waterpark ride for over 2 hours just to get on a floaty tube?   uglystupid2    If they were smarter, these youngsters from out of town,   just go buy a nice big floaty tube yourself for 40-50 bucks, pump it up, and there is access easily anywhere along the riverfront not just at that tubing company in town and do it yourself parking a car downstream if having 2 vehicles of people going along.   I refuse to swim or float down that river in inner tubes but have done it dozens of times in a jon boat or canoe for I know what swims in that river having fished it for years growing up from snakes to huge snapping turtles and the runoff from farmers fields am sure is not pleasant either.

Is sad when this town of only 1100 people easily have well over that on a weekend just going down the sugar river on weekends.  I wonder of the 5 bars in that 50 yard downtown stretch how much business they get from them as well since most all bring their own coolers along paying extra for a floater tube to carry their alcohol since most get too drunk to drive when done.  Heard rumors that they get so drunk floating along the river in rural farmland that some have sex as well which am sure happens.  That is a nice family outing to see aye when the 5 year old asks mommy and daddy why is the tube a rockin with 2 of them on 1 tube?   coolsmiley

I have a picture somewhere from long ago in the 1970s and 1980s when the runoff from businesses being dumped into that river created foaming bubbles that stunk about 50 yards up past the bridge in that picture and some people thought it would be cool to get into that river at the time coming out all covered in bubbles/foam.  Lucky they did not pass out from toxins when I was a kid growing up.

Ohhh. Watching a school of  Huchee Mommas having wet drunken sex would probably fill the ER at the local hospital from bystanders trying to scratch their eyes out.

Thx for the warning, I'm not goin there anytime soon.

wow, closing down 1 day for supposedly better safety measures.  I bet NOT!

https://wkow.com/2020/07/09/sb-tubing-in-albany-to-close-for-a-day-to-implement-drastic-safety-changes/

NO ONE from out of town 99% are age under 30 are going to wear masks or social distance.  Plus, the owners only have a few buses for transportation back and forth down the river.  I wish this article would say what they are going to do to be safer?  How about NO alcohol down the river?  I bet if did that 75% of their business would drop instantly.    I wish the article said what is being done?

Like said,  I have drove by there with long lines having to go to my moms house once a month or so to mow her  yard the out of towners even park 3 blocks away near my moms house on the street is jam packed more residents tubing per weekend than the town population almost.    Most females are 200lbers or more a lot of them wearing 2 piece g-strings with their butt cheek flaps rolling out in ripples or are skinny and tons of tattoos all over their bodies.  I know the city residents dislike the business they get since they litter and take up 99% of parking spots in a 3 block radius of downtown area which is about 1/3rd of the entire town area.  Very few families with kids do the tubing.

agree, is a river town most local other towns called us  'river rats'  living in that town growing up.  Is that racist?  I did not care since to each their own call us what they want did not care from other local high school kids in small towns nearby.  Only thing to do there was play baseball, bowling,  and fish growing up and ride bicycles/skateboards.  We did have a tennis court believe it or not something a lot of other smaller towns did not have nearby (even a 6 lane old school bowling alley) and I played a lot of tennis (crappy court cracks all over and nets ripped up)  was actually and still am pretty good at it only been beaten twice in my life by college players who played tennis with better eqmt. than my 20 dollar racket.   OH yah,  5 bars in 50 yard mainstreet as well, something my dad went down to daily to BS with the locals getting drunk near daily.  He alone kept a few in business by himself for many years. coolsmiley

I am waiting for a death to occur am totally surprised one has not happened yet from drinking and drowning or getting injured but am sure they have to sign a waiver saying owners not responsible for anything.   I know near weekly the ambulance is called to one of the tubers going down the river most alcohol related doing stupid things and in that town the ambulance are volunteers as most small towns are.

https://www.channel3000.com/25-year-old-madison-man-dies-in-green-county-tubing-accident/

yep, finally happened after several years running I knew was only a matter of time. I am really really surprised has not been dozens killed since even just yesterday 2 more ambulance/EMS calls for tubers were called on top of this death yesterday.

I wonder if the Green County health advisor members will be shutting down this tubing place for investigation?  Probably not since only open another 1 month or so until end of August.  The owners of this tubing place only have to work about 4 months of the entire year to make a living based upon the 1000's of tubers they get every weekend.   I bet if they do NOT allow alcoholic beverages about 75% of their business will be gone.   90% of their business are age 16 to age 28 or so and 75% am sure have their own coolers full of alcohol they float down the river with,  of which I bet over 50% toss their cans and glass bottles into the river.

I know the local police officers in town sit alongside the sugar river and use binocolaurs for some stretches of that river downstream to try to catch them littering and have made a nice chunk of change doing that issuing citations.

Well I guess the tubing place called it closed today being Sunday in respect to the 25 year old that dies and his family.    I bet they be open next weekend only 6 or 7 weekends left to open since 80% or more comes on weekends only.
