I use things until they are worn out and repair and use until they can't be used.
I have a Craftsman cordless tool set that has been used for 17 years. Battery replacement is $45 to $60 each.
Terry (MRTIC) And his son Josh helped me work on our cabin and had a Rigid cordless set. Lifetime warranty on everything. For almost a year Ii have been talking myself out of the expense of replacement. $499 for the set i wanted. I figured I'm to old to replace what still works.
Just happened to mention it to my wife and she said I'll buy it for you.  We go to Home Depot and it is on the shelf for $299.00. I got my 10% Veterans discount and my neighbor gave me a $100.00 gift card for helping him. We walked out for $179.00 plus taxes. I looked the next day while in the store and they were $499.00. I tried for a year to not buy , but this I could not pass up.

Oh no! I didn’t know that Home Depot offered a military discount. I just ordered $4,700.00 worth of appliances from them.

Ask for the discount even if you prepaid. Lowes also will give you a veterans discount. There are occasions where they will not.

Lowes and HD both offer %10 to vets so carry your VA card in your wallet.

I just bought a Rigid drill, driver and impact from HD to replace the old Dewalt and Mikita. Mikita about 40 yrs old and DeWalt about 25.  The Rigids work good. That impact has a lot of muscle.

I have reached an age, where I am outliving my truck, 2 refrigerators, water heater, entire HVAC system, lawn mower, TV, microwave, toaster oven, coffee machine, computer, camera, deck boards, shed walls, fence rails, and my skin.... and it just keeps going.  All within a couple years.

I get up every day wondering what will take a crap today?  It's getting tiresome, and expensive.

I wish I only needed a drill set. (but nice to get a good deal)

I registered with Lowe’s when the program first came out. Now all I have to do is give them my phone number and sometimes show them my drivers license.
