He got here a few minutes before 11, right after Dennis (O2S) finished his call to me

G-man was not on the Valk as it had a switch issue and the other bike had a battery issue  so he had to jump start it but all was well and we took off north by 11am

We took the goat trail to 6/17 to 208 north over the Shawangunk range

At 52 (Walden) we went west and right before 209 I pulled over to correct a wrong turn and a police car passed me

So I followed him into the Ellenville PD parking lot on the far side of 209 and asked where to turn for 42 as I thought I might have passed it somehow

Can you believe the officer had no idea as he said he was not from the area Then he got a very pretty young woman officer to come out of the station. She told me that she lived near Claryville and if I took 209 a few miles I could take freshly paved route 55 right to the turn for Claryville Rd  I am ashamed I did not get an audition pic  as by the time I thought of it she had gone back into the station Undecided   Gary stayed far back as I think he may not have had papers for the bike on him, but I think he had his wallet today

Gman was beat so he went home from there just 75 miles into the ride  It was only his 2nd ride of the year.  I think we were together on his 1st ride as I recall we had to put air in his car tire  But even if short it is always fun to see Gary and ride.

The temps was in the 60/70 range in the Catskills and passing the highest points the breeze felt great
I had the entire road to myself  nobody in front nobody behind the whole way

Claryville Rd is about 30 miles long, no cross streets  All of it alongside streams
(here is someone having fun fishing part of the neversink river that runs a good way along it)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-3Xyo8APRA
and lakes and 55 I was along the neversink reservoir sweepers as opposed to the twists of Claryville   I suppose the comparison would be NC28 to most of NY55 and Claryville I cant compare to any other road off the top of my head

A rocky start but the best ride of the year

Only stopped once along 28 for gas and some water after the directions stop in Ellenville   280+ miles
for the day

I did take the thruway home as you can go 80 for the jog from 28 to 84 and saved a bunch of time as I wanted to go swimming and eat lunch when I got home

If I do this ride again in October it will be awesome

I hit one too many of those "speed bumps" on 52 and after that every little bump sent electric jolts into my right wrist which had to hold that throttle open because I neglected to switch the throttle boss to this bike.  Had to ride with my elbows facing out which helped to absorb some hits so my wrist didn't take every one of them.

209 was a nice little ride and then 17 and 87 were a breeze.  Stopped in Sloatsburg to give my hands a rest.

You're right, buddy, I'm getting old.   coolsmiley
