No, the GW uses a 195, instead of a 205, I believe.

Mike they call for different tires. Some 1800 wing riders use Valk sized tires, but you dont want to use theirs...they are smaller.......you can, I mean it will fit the valk uses 180/70/16 and I think the wing calls for a 160/80/16.....not exactly sure of the wing numbers but I am sure the wing tire is smaller

When something seems too good to be true, is usually is. Winger was selling a set cheap and I could use a rear.
Thanks

you ever try a car tire, some are scared because of the design and the thought of the corners, of the tire, but seriously i was a little leary, when i put it on i couldnt believe how much i liked it.

the rear gl1800 oem tire is a 180/60-16. some 1800 riders use the valk/vtx 180/70 (i have myself on a previous wing and have a spare right now for the current wing when needed) the larger profile will correct the speedometer and lower the rpm's. the 205 CT will fit the wing, i have helped a couple of guys here with theirs, on one we did have to file down a weld high spot on the swing arm and shave just a small amount off the right edge of the tire and it works quite well. also on the left side in the wheel well is a piece of plastic that we used a zip tie to pull and tie off away from the tire. I was going to use a CT next time but got the rear valk tire for free and will be putting on the 1800. have a GYTT 205/60-16 on the valk.

Just a note, increasing the size of the rear tire does not correct the speedo, one must decrease the rpms of the front tire to correct the speed error, ie, a larger diameter tire on the front. It does indeed decrease the engine rpm tho at a given speed..

Hey Rio, after reading your post I went and checked on a couple of GW 1800 forums because it was my understanding that the Wings don't use the front wheel for the speedometer source. On all the forums, posters talked about correcting their speedometer error by installing a larger rear tire.

been there, done it, on a '05 1800 I owned. it did. prior to the larger rear, gps speed 70 = speedo speed 74, rpm's 3200 after the larger tire, gps speed 70 = speedo speed 70, rpm's 3000

If the speedo is driven from the front wheel, changing the diameter of the rear wheel will not change the indicated speed for a given time interval. If a given size front wheel turns 700 rpm in a mile it will yield a certain indicated speed. Lets assume you put a HUGE rear tire on that only turns once per mile, the front tire will still turn 700 revolutions yielding the same indicated speed. Engine rpm will drop somewhat significantly (to say the least), but the front tire turns the same revs. Could be wrong......?

Yes it will on the Gold Wing 1800 because the speedometer is NOT driven off the front wheel.
