Preparing for my 7 day Colorado tour from Raton NewMexico.  Anybody know if hotel rooms nowadays are more readily available or less available with all this corvid stuff?

Digger, a few of us from ID just got back from a 2 week trip through CO and the biggest problem was actually hotels being book out. We were always able to find a room and we did not have prior reservations, unless we knew where we'd be and then we would book the night before.
We traveled most of the state from north to south and back again. No issues getting a room.
In some places (small towns) food was actually more difficult as the restaurants would close early or not offer Dine in services.
Have a safe trip and enjoy.

Nope, was the weeks before, we were celebration our 30th anniversary and Yoopers was a stretch too far this year.
Again, the plans are set in motion for next year, and if the stars align we will be there.

Interstate 70 throughout the entire length of Glenwood Canyon is closed off to any traffic except firefighting equipment due to a wildfire that is rapidly expanding just outside of Glenwood Springs, CO.
All movements of vehicles east-west across the western slope are to the northern and southern routes across the state.  The fire has jumped the interstate and Colorado River; that poses an extreme risk to life and property for many, many square miles in the White River National Forest and the counties bordering it.

I don't anticipate the interstate to be reopened for at least a week while suppression efforts continue.

Good luck.

Good luck.
Leaving Tomball (Houston area) on the 5th of September .   Me on my Valk, my BIL on a Goldwing, and 4 Harleys.   Trailering to Raton NM leaving trucks and trailers at KOA then 7 days on the bikes.     We are all in our early 70's except my 58 yr old BIL and I guess either we just ain't tough enough or too smart to cross 700 miles of Texas at 100-110 feels like degrees so we are trailering straight thru from Houston to Raton, about 810 miles.   That also  allows us to cut 2 days off the trip.

Making hotel reservations in Raton only.   Finding hotels daily on the road as don't know where we will be daily.    Only place we HAVE to be is we Got reservations to enter Rocky Mountain National Park Sept 9 between 10-12 am     Gotta have reservations now to enter RMNP due to limiting numbers of people in the park daily due to Covid.  We will be there on time as you have to be there in your 2 hr slot.    Spending night before in Granby so we will be close.  Really looking forward to this trip.    Been 4 yrs since we did Colorado.

I'd suggest Grand Lake over Granby. It's far more scenic and closer to the park entrance. The Lone Eagle and the Spirit Lake Lodge are two spotless mom and pop motels. Stayed in both many times.

Here's a picture I took from my room in the Spirit Lake Lodge in Grand Lake.  How many hotels have moose in the street right out in front?  And they even use the crosswalk!

So the problem is that I have HTTPS Anywhere turned on. When I disable it for his site, I can see the photos.
