Anyone own or have any experience with one ?
They claim due to demand there is a 3 month delay in filling orders. I ordered one 8 or 10 weeks ago.

If ever I have to pull a gun on someone it will be lethal. No interest in non lethal guns.

I also see pretty limited use for such a thing.
It's not a real gun, but it's use would likely be judged pretty closely to a real gun.
I suppose if I had 12 kids or was an animal control officer one might come in handy.
You produce such a thing in self defense, you may get responded to with the real thing. And cops (and everyone else) will see a real gun.

I understand those points. But, have you ever shot and killed anyone ? Could you really do it ?
I don't really want to do it. I do carry at times, both a pistol and flare gun in the vehicle. And a shotgun is under the bed and a .45 on the side stand. Stopping someone when necessary long to get somewhere else appeals more to me.

And to answer the question before no I have never killed anyone but should the need arise I want to be prepared. I am sure the emotional effects after are horrible. I hope to never find out but I think of it were him or me I will choose me everytime.

On the other hand, have you seen the new Dodge Ram? On the Byrna gun, the question that comes to my mind is where do you keep it, and when do you decide you need it and not a real firearm? That could be a time consuming decision when time is of the essence. I think it's better to be overarmed than underarmed, if you need to be armed at all. If you might need to be armed, how do you know the threat is unarmed, or unwilling to do as much damage as he can without a weapon? If I hear a bump in the night, I'll be holding a real firearm. If I have to go outside and look for something amiss out there, I'll have a real firearm. If a dog may be rabid, I'll have a real firearm. If there's a group of rowdy kids around my car, I'm not going to be armed at all (except the knife that is always in my hip pocket). My problem with it is the thought process thing. However, without question, it's best attribute is that police and prosecutors and grand juries all know it's non lethal, which is a good thing if they are investigating the fact that you used it. It would probably be better if it didn't look like a gun at all, and still worked as advertised. The bright colors are helpful, except today all kinds of stupid rainbow colored real guns are out there (and everyone's using cerakote). I absolutely understand a reluctance to use lethal force. Everyone should be reluctant to use lethal force. You'd need to be reluctant to use that Byrna gun too.

It will weigh heavily on your mind, but it was him or me, and he started the situation. Carry 24/7, especially nowadays.

I have not been shot, or shot at. But I absolutely have had someone try to kill me, a couple times. One time, he announced he was going to kill me, and then tried to do it, for the next 20 minutes or so. He was not armed, but close to twice my size.
Events like these tend to change your mindset (if you have one).
The only time I came close to being shot was shooting a 1911 into a hill bank out in the sticks (targets). One shot hit some rocks (or something) and came whizzing right back past my head, no more than 6-8 inches. That was it for the day.

I'm thinking more of situations such as yours. Some PITA starts something, isn't armed, just let off a round of pepper spray or CS and be done with him. He'll still be able to wake up the next day. I've had a couple situations over the past couple decades where I think a Byrna would have been nice to have. I fired the 12 gauge flare into the front seat of a jerks truck. I've destroyed a fortune worth of gold dental work of a very very well tanned fella with the barrel of the 45 while waiting for a stop light one night. A couple years ago a homeowner was charged/acquiited of murder for shooting an armed intruder in his home. [ This in NYS] The way things are now more people are being charged for shooting or brandishing a weapon at intruders. Its quite apparent now that your home is no longer your castle, its theirs.

Here in N.J. it’s a person's responsibility to flee, run and hide if possible. There is no castle doctrine or stand your ground. Apparently this is a legal option in N.J., it does not appear to need a permit or license and can be shipped to N.J.
This could be a viable option for some people, I watched several videos since you posted this and while it’s not lethal, it certainly lets a person 1) know they’ve been hit with a projectile and 2) the chemical response is instant and very debilitating. One video I watched (I believe) showed a person being shot 3 times in a row with 2 practice rounds (which are solid plastic) followed by a chemical round. The practice rounds left a noticeable welt but through a tee shirt as did the chemical round which dropped the person instantly and as the person went down, fell through the chemical agent “vapor cloud” to get a larger dosage and exposure.
Before I bought one, the one thing I’d like to know what is the exposure range of the chemical agent in relation to an enclosed area and the shooter. All the test videos I saw were conducted outdoors.
