I have a trip planned to Mississippi. It is predicated on one of my first solo rides on my 2003 Valkyrie. I traveled to Clarksdale, and then up along the Mississippi River (well I could not see the river because of the "dikes" blocking the view from the rural road I was on) to Memphis. I think that was MS Route 1.
A year or so later I went down the trace from Nashville and stopped over in Natchez because it was featured in a John Wayne movie (El Dorado), then ventured over to Hattiesburg (an interesting stop)
This time, I am taking the wife with me and it will be just us. I an looking to travel between 250 and 300 miles per day.
My question is regarding stops along the way going West.
I have overnight stops planned for Batesville, MS (or it could be Oxford, MS), Greenville, MS (or it could be Clarksdale, MS but my only stops in Clarksdale have been to see the "Crossroads" and I found it a little unsettling, just because of the pan handlers. But that was many years ago, times may have changed), and then Natchez.
Going East I will be stopping in Demopolis and then back into Georgia and then home. I may take a few minutes to ride down Severn Bridges Road but its not like it use to be.
Any thoughts on the places I have chosen to stop (pros or cons) would be greatly appreciated.
If you plan on Natchez you need to make a stop by Windsor Ruins at Lorman, Ms. Also Mr C famous fried chicken. Being you are headed from Natchez over by me is the LS memorial. I can always meet and show these places being I'm retired. So if you need info give me a hollow and will be glad to show you some of it.
