Hi Everyone. I recently bought a '99 Valkyrie Interstate, and I'm new to the group. I need to put a rear tire on the bike. It currently has a Dunlop Elite on it. I'm looking for members feedback on what tires they've used or would recommend for this bike. Thank you.

shinko SE890 Journey rear tire. cheapest and will last like the rest of cycle tires 8-10K miles tops.
some dislike them but for price paid, they seem to work for me. Had avon cobra on prior and was fine also lasted 9K miles

There's numerous good ones. Some people like the one you have. Some people "wouldn't ride to the mailbox" on them. ... Besides them, Avon Cobra Chrome and Metzeler ME888 are good, I like Avons. -Mike

Does anyone know of a tire that closely matches the profile Austone Taxi Tire. I'm going to need to replace my taxi tire and my understanding is that Austone no longer markets it.

I've rode on nothing but the Metzeler ME888 since I got my Valk. Last about as long as you would expect a Motorcycle tire to last on these big bikes (8-12 thousand miles). I do recommend pumping them up to 40 PSI so the front doesn't cup and the rear gets a little taller. However, your speedometer will be off if you do this.

Tech page or General page-enter tires in the search bar. Make a sandwich or three grab some chips and something to drink-prepare to read fer awhile. e 3s scared the kaka outa me first time in the rain with them. Went D/S shortly after that. NEVER looked back or regretted That decision. Good luck in yer noble quest. RIDE SAFE.

Thanks everyone for your input. I decided to stay with the Dunlop - more expensive than some of the others, but I've had good luck on Dunlops for other bikes. By the way - Old2soon - maybe I'm being dense, but what is "D/S"?

Dark Side. Using a car tire on the rear. Many of us do,

Car tires-I M H O-wear better last longer cost less and again-I M H O-lots better when in the rain. Myself and many others here have ridden "The Dragon" on car tires. My learning curve on D/S was approx 10 miles or less. On a Hard launch with our Phatt Ghurls they just hook up from the git go. And in case yer wunderin=205-65-16-my choice in size. RIDE SAFE.

Not so. Your speedometer will be off because that's the way Honda designed it. Air those tires up tight. They'll perform better and last longer. If you insist on an MC tire Avons are best performers. Dunlop E3 will last longer.

Yeah - since I started riding with a Garmin Zumo - I use that as my speedometer and miles traveled .

You might also enjoy a 200 series bridgestore motorcycle tire
Waiting for my E3 to wear out, it just keeps going....but not my favorite in the rain
I ran the battleaxe and liked it and also the exedra and liked that as well
Ran high speeds in the rain and it was about as good as a car tire without having to worry about the tire wanting to run into the ruts in the road,
cost more than a car tire but different strokes for different folks I guess

I've been running Avons for years, all the way back the the Venoms, and really like them. I have over 275,000 combined miles on my 2 Valks, so I'd guess I have run a few dozen of their 'tyres'.
However, Avon raised the prices on the new Cobra Chromes significantly. On my F6B, a Chrome rear now costs over $50 more than the OEM Bridgestone, which is also a very good tire. I'm planning to switch back the the Bridgestones on that bike, and may try them on my Valkyries as well.
