When I was little there was just this bridge on the Cooper River in Charleston:

After a while they built a "big new bridge"...

And then another...

Now there's only the new bridge, the other two have been removed. The new bridge
is fun to go over on a Valkyrie  cooldude

Yeah, when I moved here and decided one day to go over to Charleston and then visit Patriot's Park accross the bay, I rode the Valk ONE and only ONE time over that POS old bridge.  I have never been that scared on a bridge before.    After that, when I rode or drove over, I took the old NEW bridge.  I wasnt much better but at least it had something other than open railings on the sides.

Glad both of em are gone.  The new one is pretty nice to ride over.

Ride safe

Yow! I wish I had gone down to see some of the Charleston bridges coming down...
it wasn't as dramatic as that, giant ships have to go under the bridge, so the
channel has to stay clear, and explosions had to be tailored so that historic
buildings wouldn't have their windows shattered and rattled too much. I think there's
still an old bridge pier or two left on the Charleston side.

Shoot, you're a lucky man to have done that. I remember driving back from The
Windjammer at night in my 1970 Galaxie 500 on that bridge, but I've only
ridden a bike across the new bridge...
