That was before I got here, but I've always felt I need to make that trip someday.   coolsmiley

It would have been fun to tour the factory in Marysville, too.

INZANE III was my first one. Yes the trip to Marysville to tour the factory was worth the trip all in itself.

I was around for the early Inzanes but never made it. Sure would be cool if we could go back there again someday...

Curious though, not knowing the area, how are the roads? Was the proximity to the factory the primary draw or are the roads around the area good enough to justify that as a destination on their own?

I don’t remember the roads being excellent. There were rides. I remember the people and the Honda Plant

I thought there were some nice roads near Zanesville. The "triple nickle" ride is scenic and pretty popular.

https://www.motorcycleroads.com/motorcycle-roads/ohio/the-triple-nickel-route-555

At the time the primary drivers for InZane's location was it's proximity to the Marysville Plant and our largest sponsor Directline.

I went by the hotel a few years ago coming back from our WV event. It is now just a pretty run down looking shadow of itself. Too bad, would love to go back there again for old times sake.

I can't speak on Zaneville itself but we took a family camping trip to Hawking hills a couple of years ago and really want to take the the bike down there. I had to cage it on that one. Hawking Hills is about a hour and a half S.W. of Zanesville. There are a lot of nice cabins and such all around the area from 2 person to 20+ people.

IZ 3 was the first one I recall being there but seems I did a one day visit the prior year, been too long to remember the details I guess. I always stayed with my sis-in-law in the Columbus area, I have also toured the plant but was during Honda Homecoming(got a couple trophies in the bike show at the last one they put on). Yes....those were the days.  cooldude

We were at all the Inzanes in Zanesville and Paducah.  There was some pretty good riding in the southeast part of the state - a lot hillier than you'd think.  I think the reason Zanesville was chosen was that it was close enough to Marysville to be an easy morning ride, but far enough away that we could still get a hotel at a reasonable rate (with Honda Homecoming going on at Marysville at the time).

There are some great roads south of Zanesville.  Athens County has published a series of routes called Ohio's Windy Nine of which the Triple Nickle is one.  They can be viewed at www.windy9.com.  I think you can download gpx files as well.  City of Athens is 50 miles south on Rte. 93, itself a nice ride.  We camped at Burr Oak State Park last year and road around on some of the routes.  Great riding.

I think it would be terrific to go back to Zanesville for an Inzane--those early Inzanes were well before my Valkyrie awakening.

It's about 1.5 hours to Marysville from there, but of course we would have to watch them assemble Gold Wings.

Sadly, we couldn't even see that. The last US made Gold Wing (or any other Honda motorcycle) rolled off the assembly line over a decade ago.  :'(

Honda consolidated production of all larger motorcycles world wide in a new (Well, new a decade ago) factory in Kumamoto Japan...

There is a place over there that Honda has a museum and racetrack. I don't know if it's in that town. But, I've always thought I'd like to check it out.

This has been posted before but a few good photos from our first InZane are in the thread.

Interestingly enough if one searches Google for InZane 1 you get a bunch of images of weed. Not sure that that is all about. I must be getting old....sheesh.

Could not even see that.  Only thing in the factory is A1, A3, A5, L4 containters of automotive parts, mostly plastic  and other assorted parts, consolidated to be sent across the street to the production plant.   Now if you want to purchase a new Acura NSX for 150k and upward one can go up Honda Parkway a half a mile and view most of the production process of your new sports car.

Rode from Colorado to Zanesville for IZ I and II.  Did the 1000 Valkyrie ride to the factory in Zanesville.  Met some neat people including Lamont, Barbarian the Mad Serb, and others.  The drag simulator “rolling road” was fun to watch.  Met Mike “Mountainman and Shirley” for some graphics and pinstriping which turned out to be one of 4 times he tattooed my Valkyrie.

As a side note during IZ I,  I made it back to NJ to go to court and finalize my divorce during this same bike trip.  A friend made a sign for the back of my T-bag on the passenger seat that said “Just Divorced”.  Got a lot of honking horns and thumbs up waves on the ride back to Colorado.

Lots of good memories.

I missed the first one. Made Inzane II for one day. Did the 1000 Valkyrie March with if I remember correctly over 860 fellow Valkyrie riders to ride from the hotel to the plant. Was great to see all those Valkyrie's in one place. Missed III.

After that I made almost every Inzane since then. Only missed the second one in Frisco CO (couldn't get time off) . Eureka Springs AR (too freeking hot) and Taos NM (to far away and lack of funds).  So I have been to 15 rallies in 20 years. Wow 20 years. Seams like yesterday when I got my Valk...

The urban legend is that there were over 800 Valkyries.  However, I have posted numerous times that, logistically, that just wasn't possible.  The Honda plant said they counted through over 800, but the forms we collected were about 1/2 of that.  Our number made more sense than the Honda count, based on hotel rooms, registrations, and dinner count.

Probably but I have slept a few times since then. I remember 800+. I didn't stay for the rally. I rode over from Indiana and left for home after the ride to the plant.
