LA Mayor Eric Garcetti Cuts Power To TikTok Star Bryce Hall’s Home After He Throws Massive Party

I am not a fan of TikTok, in fact I did not know what it was until it made the news in the past few months.  So,  this has nothing to do with TikTok.  But it has everything to do with dictatorial powers being wielded by Governors, and in this case, Mayors.

In essence this person had the power cut to his home when he held a large/massive party in "defiance" of coronavirus pandemic regulations put in place by city.

So, we have gotten to the point that Mayors and other officials can cut off your power and cut off your water if you fail to comply with a rule simply put in place by their own pens.

Maybe I am just being overly reactive but it seems to me that if this is allowed to continued we will no longer have any freedoms.

We are not living in russia, but, apparently some on the left think we are. I hope our NYS governor doesn't hear about this.

You know, there was made mention of cutting power to business and churches in the same manner and immediately my thought was cut power to FACP or Sprinkler pump. Yes some would have a generator but I would have a serious problem with that and one can’t cut power to rentals with non payers yes?

I'm curious as to how the mayor got the authority to do this. Was there a court order involved?
Not that it can't be done or I necessarily agree or disagree with it.
I've seen power cut from a home where a hostage situation was taking place, in that situation, I agreed with it.   Not sure I would be in agreement with this one though.

After re-reading the article, it appears he had the authority based on a city council passed regulation.   I think (if I could afford it) would be challenging that one in court.   Might not win but, a home is a man's castle.

Seems like if the Mayor's no large party regulations are not legislated law, this Bryce Hall character may have a leg to stand on in court.  I still wouldn't have attended his shindig, even had I been invited.  Their loss.   2funny

Tic-Toc, there go your freedoms and Constitutional rights...

I agree, I wouldn't have gone either and it would have been a much duller party there without us.  Wink

It's too bad that someone that can afford to throw massive parties in crazy expensive and over regulated Commiefornia can't afford a few commodity generators that are available at any home improvement and/or tool store in his area.....
