Not So Fast There… (Continued) The ‘Yooper Ride’ was winding down, and family members had begun drifting off in all different directions. I did like I sometimes do, I hung around to the very end and hugged, hand shook, and joked with the folks as they loaded up, then went their separate ways. Parting is such sweet… yeah, Shakespeare said it better than I ever could, but, still, it is indeed bittersweet… Until next time, my friends! Mitch had invited me to meet him in Clinton, IA, the following Friday for the next weekend event, and I’d agreed to join him… That meant I had lots of time to meander that way and still get there early… or not… I took-lazy during all the farewell proceedings, so I decided to just lay over in Newberry another night, then head out myself the next morning… Great ‘decompression’ time… time to sit comfortably in my nap chair and reflect upon all that had just happened, and on all the good will so lavishly displayed and enjoyed by us all… I thought about all those generous and good-to-the-bone folks who so unselfishly give of their time, energy, and creativity, not to mention personal expense, in order to host these events and to provide a venue for the rest of us to bond and generate future memories… Our club, riding experiences, indeed our very lives, would not be the same without those who so continually go above and beyond! Gig & Lulu had done an excellent job with this event… Lulu had even cooked who knows how much food and spent a bunch of her time making things work out so well for us. Unsung heroes, for sure, that the rest of us should be and probably are hugely grateful for all they did! They contribute so disproportionately and make such a vast difference in the Valk experience we so much enjoy, that mere words simply can never do them justice… Still, thanks, my dear friends, I do appreciate y’all!!! Not wanting to take up residence in Yooper-land, I did manage to pry myself out of there to head in… some direction that would leave us in Clinton, IA, at the appointed time… I opted to just meander down through Wisconsin on backroads all the way. We’d been through that rather interesting state many times over the years, but like with too many other places, we’d only passed through on our way somewhere else… We had the time to do a bit of exploring and digesting of all we’d previously missed, so… that’s just what we did.
Not so fast there, y'all... this ain't the end at all! More to come later... but my typing finger needs to rest some first.
