When I was about 50 and my son was 17, he overtook me in a lot of sports. Up until then I could usually beat him at pool volleyball. It was kind of hard on the ego to realize I was going to soon be put out to pasture. Well, now my 14 year old grandson has also overtaken me this summer. My left shoulder is killing me from 5 hours last night. I could only do an hour tonight.  Embarrassed (at least I can still beat the women in the family)  Smiley

Whenever I can. Sometimes they are quicker than me though.  Smiley

... I've read enough Greek religious texts to know what Zeus would REALLY have done if he saw Mufasa in that position......

I went out early today for cooler weather to dig a trench to assist in rainfall collection, dispersal and runoff.

The ground is really root-bound and clay.  About 18" wide and deep.

Fill a wheelbarrow, wheel it up the yard to planter boxes and dump it in, and repeat.

As I approached heart attacks, I took short breaks and drank water.

Two and half hours and I was completely wasted.  Not sore, just whipped.

I used to be able to do that all day.  Now I can't do it all morning.

I hear you. I've been in a Holy War with cannibal rats early in the morning before it hits 110*. 2 hours and I've frigging had it. Then 5 hours of volleyball with the family about wore me down. As I quit early and am licking my wounds tonight, the kids come and tell me that 2 rats ran atop the retaining wall. Even the rats mock me !  tickedoff

I can still do everything I could do when I was 17.  It just hurts for a lot longer...
