Planning a trip out to Natchez and back from SC.  Besides places I wanted to see, I would like to avoid the major roads.

Right now my routing has me taking US 84 from Natchez to Woodworms MS.  As I understand it, the road is a four lane road.  So,   I was looking at a more rural road and found Mississippi Highway 28 which would work.

In trying to find out more about the road, I would some information that it was a heavily traveled road, which means it might has more opportunity for errors.

My question, can anyone provide some comments on  Highway 28 from somewhere around Union Church,MS to Calhoun, MS?

Don't know or heard of Woodworm, Ms. Would you be talking about Woodsville, Ms? I can put you on several different roads. Not many around there that I haven't been on. More info and I can help you on some good roads.

My intent was to go from Natchez to Demopolis, AL, one day

The route I had selected was to take US 84 but since I found it was a four lane road, I thought it might be more fun to take a two lane road.  And Mississippi 28 was there and seemed to fit the bill.

But, if you do a search, one site said it was a heavily traveled road which is something I was trying to avoid.

Not that heavy. When you get around Laurel Ms gets a lot of traffic. But 28 is not bad. You can pick up Hwy 11 around Laurel and it is a good road to ride. Between Laurel and Meridian on Hwy 11 is a place called Dunn's Fall. Nice little place to see and not far off hwy 11. If you decide to do hwy 28 just 11 miles North of there is the famous chicken place and another 8 miles is the Windsor Ruins. Well worth the visit. Let me know and I can ride with you and then carry you over to hit hwy 28 by another route.
