He'll be telling his buds it was his years of riding experience and well honed skills that pulled him through there. The pictures show it was a lack of skills that got him into the predicament to begin with.
That's called "going too fast for the conditions encountered, with a bike that is not really meant to be leaned THAT far over, by a rider in over his head"....
He made a big mistake but he stayed with it and ultimately got it back up again. He failed but he also succeeded.
I agree with everyone here. We've all pushed the limit at some point. Some times you get the bear, some times the bear gets you.

Personally, I think he pushed his luck and then got lucky to recover. It could have ended in a much different way. Yeah, I know, he's been riding for years and planned the whole thing....
