Last week I posted my Interstate for sale. It cost $5.00 . Well Ok I did it. Week later I went to repost it to bring it back to the top of the list and the want another $5.00 to repost.  Angry
Now I don't know if this is for all categories or just vehicles/motorcycles.

Wow.  It was free the last time I sold something.  I didn't know it had changed.  Still cheaper than Ebay seller's fees though.  I guess they have to make their piece of the pie.

Post in the GENERAL section, I have seen vehicles there and it's free.

I thought I had noticed a reduction in the number of ads for vehicles in my area, I guess this answers that question. Sounds like an opportunity for another site to develop.

I guess the only vehicle I ever sold was a XL 175 Honda a few years back. It was good while it lasted.

Wow, what an odd time to run customers off, when Facebook Marketplace is already totally eating your lunch... I rarely even check Craigslist anymore, most commerce for that kind of stuff in my opinion has gone over to Facebook Marketplace...

. Exactly.  Hence the low amount of bikes posted there now.

When craigslist started out they stated that eventually they would charge a fee.

YES, there are fewer ads on there now, the way I look at it, that is ok. There will be fewer scammers and dealers populating the different categories. It will also help eliminate the people fishing for a sale at an exorbitant price. I used to look at the prices of cars and bikes and it seemed everything was   20 - 25% higher than it should have been. Hopefully now the pricing is where it should be to sell something.

I can still remember when selling vehicles through the want ads in the local newspapers would cost $35-$40 for an ad, so I think $5 is fair when you look at the nationwide exposure.

Facebook Marketplace is always full of good deals here.
Letgo is pretty good also found both of these on there
at a killer deal. Craigslist has been deader than 4:00
for quite some time now.

Your right. I have had only 1 scam email and it has been posted for 2 weeks. In the past I would 3-4 within the first day.
I also just realized i'm not seeing any more $1,904.00 2016 street glides or what ever for sale. Same with the cars.

08-31

In my locale, it's not an over-exaggeration to say that 20-30% of posted sales ads on CL are scams designed to elicit personal contact information.

If CL can't stem the flood of bogus ads (many of which are replicated in cities across the country), perhaps they figure to make some $$ from it.

I’m not using craigslist anymore either, I was looking for a trailer and man every other ad was a scam, 7x14 dual axle custom paint for $801.00 then I started looking all over the country and found the same deals everywhere I mean hundreds of ads like that it’s getting pretty bad , they don’t even change the pictures or email , I guess that Facebook market place is the way to go

now I know why not many craigslist ads anymore.  I sold my ATV on craigslist though posted in May no charge this 5 dollar charge I guess started in April.  So, post your cycle in the ATV/snowmobile section close enough right is free?

My kid told me about facebook marketplace and I signed up for facebook just because of this and WOW,  10xs as many cycles for sale on there vs. craigslist ever had.   I spent 2 hours looking at stuff to buy but gave up had enough..... Grin

I did go on craigslist and why 5 bucks for RVs, cars-trucks, motorcycles but NOT boats and ATVs?  I guess they sticking to items on the roads/hwys?    Just as many boats and ATVs in upper price range as cycles.

I think it was last summer when I noticed the 5 dollars.  I routinely look at CL at motorcycles and suddenly the 1000 to 1200 bikes for sale norm in the Dayton area had plummeted to 85 to 115.  Now that is a blow.  That said I have had great luck in cleaning house.  While down, in late March to middle May, I decided to sell some vehicles.  In April I moved a 2019 Honda Pcx-150 and a 99 Magna in the same week I posted the adds for very close to asking price.  Then in May I listed a rusting 02 2500 Express Cargo van I quit using 18 months earlier and thought would never sell, and an 07  Pontiac Vibe that I knew would be desirable on the same day.  I sold the vibe that same day in the morning within 2 hours and 2 hours later I sold the Express Van, both for price I really wanted.  The wife thought I was a marketing genius.  So in late June she was disposing of her now deceased Father's estate.  His 95 Tahoe had to go, should have done it 5 years earlier as it was rusting pretty good.  I posted it for twice the value we thought it might be.  Got 4 calls in the first half hour and sold it for posted price to first person that could get there.

So at least in our area, there are still a lot of people looking at CL and with much fewer vehicles listed, yours may not get glossed over.  To me 5 dollars for a month did not seem much.

I've used Craigslist to buy and sell bikes / cars / trucks.  There are a lot of scammers but you reach different people.  The small fee doesn't stop me yet.  eBay now collect sales tax on all sales even used stuff.  This has stopped me from buying from them but I do post a few things for sale.  I've helped 2 friends buy Trikes off cycletrader.  I shop nationally for vehicles when I'm looking to ensure I'm getting what I want at the best price so having multiple resources is nice.  Facebook has become a pretty good resource.  Their Diesel Truck group is a nice way to see a large group of trucks for sale and if followed closely some good deals pop up.

I already sold 1 of the 4 this May, isn't that good enough???   LOL Grin

Kid is trying to sell his 2005 yamaha fjr1300 with only 20K miles on it as well on facebook marketplace since craigslist is 5 bucks and there are 10xs as many cycles on facebook vs. craigslist being sold now easily.  You think I am bad,  he is age 19 and just bought 3 weeks apart 2 older 1980s cycles both total 1500 bucks out of pocket total, both run well.  He said if he sells his fjr for 4200-4500 in price range he might be looking to add another early 1980s goldwing to his stable.    Sad Angry   Why he likes my era (and older) of cycles early 1980s and he was not born until 1990 is beyond me?   Roll Eyes

So,  would one consider an earlier late 70's 1100cc or early 80's 1200cc goldwing for reliability and fun/riding factor?    I have no knowledge of either since was slightly before my time buying cycles in the mid to late 80's.
