I have some questions
God made man and he failed right at the start. Didn't God know how that would turn out?
Genesis 6:6 God repented he made man
Repented to who? If he is an all seeing knowing God shouldn't he have known how that was going to turn out?
Then he completely destroyed the earth and all men except for a few in a flood. Did he not know ahead of time how this would turn out? Says the whole earth was wicked. Also says that he will destroy everything again. Why?
Would this not be akin to planting a tree knowing it would not bear fruit then destroying it after a few years?
I am a believer but sometimes these issues linger in my mind.
Maybe someone here has the answers
God made you and me and He knew how we would turn out, yet He still made us.
The bible is the only book that tells the end from the beginning. It tells of the creation of man and the ending of this world as we know it. God allows man free will and the bible says even the angels look on at man in amazement and wonder. NO plan and purpose of God does not come to pass. He holds all the cards and tells of the outcome. Every prophecy in the bible has come true and sometimes with odds that were beyond computation.
A simple one today is a new world order, laughed at just 10 years ago, yet today on everyone's mind, you might say communism.
Genesis 6:6 I guess you have the LITV version of the Bible since it appears in this translation. Most every other translation is, sorry, not repented, which I believe is a miss translation. The true root is nacham which means to sigh or to be sorry. It also appears in Gen 6:7,Gen24:67,Gen27:42 and quite a few other verses. I find it interesting that it does first appear in Gen 6:6 add one more 6 and you have the the devil. But Number 6 may be considered a symbol of a man. Number 6 is also used as a symbol of sin and imperfection in the Bible. Number 6 is also used in the Bible as a symbol of work, because a man was supposed to work 6 days and to sow the earth during the period of 6 years.
God did not destroy all men Noah, his sons and the animals were all saved by God. The bible is not totally clear why God destroyed man at this time but I will offer this.
Gen 6:4 In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times.
Gen 6:5 The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and He saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.
Gen 6:6 So the LORD was sorry He had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke His heart.
It broke Gods heart why? because man choose not to worship God and come close to Him but to worship the men made from an unholy and profane union of woman and angel.
God walked in the garden with Adam and Eve, God the creator of all things wants to walk and talk with man still today, His creation. Yet we constantly reject Him and this relationship that is all the whole Bible is about.
Gen 6:9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.
All God ever wanted was for man to adore Him and walk and talk with Him and spend time with Him. Man rejected God his creator and called God evil essentially agreeing with the devil. Man was made by God through Jesus and yet the world as in later times did not come to worship the creator but worshiped the creation.
Mar 12:28 One of the teachers of religious law was standing there listening to the debate. He realized that Jesus had answered well, so he asked, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
Mar 12:29 Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: 'Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD.
Mar 12:30 And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.'
Mar 12:31 The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these."
Since the question also begs why did He create man I will give you this.
Isa 45:9 "What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, 'Stop, you're doing it wrong!' Does the pot exclaim, 'How clumsy can you be?'
Isa 45:10 How terrible it would be if a newborn baby said to its father, 'Why was I born?' or if it said to its mother, 'Why did you make me this way?'"
Isa 45:11 This is what the LORD says—the Holy One of Israel and your Creator: "Do you question what I do for My children? Do you give Me orders about the work of My hands?
Isa 45:12 I am the One who made the earth and created people to live on it. With My hands I stretched out the heavens. All the stars are at My command.
Isa 45:13 I will raise up Cyrus to fulfill My righteous purpose, and I will guide his actions. He will restore My city and free My captive people—without seeking a reward! I, the LORD of Heaven's Armies, have spoken!"
Romans 9:20 also
I also love Job I cannot imagine an all powerful God being merciful enough to sit down Job and reason with him. To me it shows compassion, mercy, patience and a personality of God we dont see often.
Job 38:1 Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind:
Job 38:2 "Who is this that questions My wisdom with such ignorant words?
Job 38:3 Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.
Job 38:4 "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you know so much.
Job 38:5 Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line?
Job 38:6 What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone
The pride and arrogance of man will never get him into Gods good graces.
God has many secrets about many things and He reveals Himself to those that love Him. Spend time with Him, ask Him questions, and in time He will reveal the questions you have on your heart. God wants us to know Him, that is what He always wanted.
