Reminds me of when I was a kid, there was a mailbox full of wasps on a semi abandoned house, so I took a badminton racket and pounded on the mailbox, as the Wasps flew out I nailed'em with the racket until one of them stung me..
Then I had to Boogie out of there, stupid kid tricks  Grin

Everytime I read that thread over this last 2 days all I could think about is Tbird laying in the hospital waiting to either get a heart or die. Was hard for me to take the thread serious in light of the event.

Why not talk about democrat policy? And how it will be good for U.S.?

Folks on the left are largely Borg, spewing talking points with no meat.. you're a smart and articulate guy, so why not shelve the Trump hate and lay out your vision for the future?
I'd seriously like to know, convince people with that.. if you can. Otherwise you're venting Trump hate here is just that, venting and emotion.. so please, show how Biden will make America great. I'll listen to that, otherwise you're going to burn yourself out here for no good reason, and nobody's gonna take you seriously again.

He's hated the President of the United States since the 1980's.  That's around 4 decades of hate to overcome.

I must admit, I knew nothing about almost ALL presidential candidates about a year before any of their elections.  I never had a chance to hate any of them.  Disagree with, of course, but never hated them.  Since then I have grown to dispise several of them, but not enough to post "I Hate _____ " over and over and over again.  And one of them is a practically convicted pedophile and his wife a corrupt politician and another ruined race relations for a couple generations, you know, being the post-racial president he intended to be.

I won't get into a debate over why a thread (or post) was locked or removed.

I will give a short explanation this once.  The original post of the thread appeared to be posted with the intent of stirring crap.  The thread rather quickly developed into pissing contests and exchanged personal attacks.  I could have taken a bunch of time going through and removing the attacks and quotes or I could have simply locked the thread.  I chose to remove the thread as I couldn't see any good purpose remaining.

Ok, I'll take a crack at answering your question.  First, please understand that I do not agree with the Democrats on every issue, nor do I disagree with the Republicans on every issue.  I was a registered Republican from my 18th birthday until the second year of President Trump's term, when I felt that the Republican party was no longer aligned with my views.  Neither are the democrats, but they're closer.

While I feel that the economy is important, I don't feel that it is the MOST important of the issues facing Americans.  Rather, I think that the wellbeing of the people is the primary issue.

I believe that Biden will tone down the divisive rhetoric that is fueling the rage in our country right now, before it's too late.  I think his victory would give everyone a chance to take a step back and reset.  I believe that this is important as I see us reaching a boiling point that we might not ever be able to come back from.

Biden will raise our taxes to pay for social programs that will help those less fortunate.  While that may be somewhat unpleasant in the short term, taking care of our own will have long term benefits.  I believe that Biden will create more opportunities for the disadvantaged among us to rise to a position where they are no longer dependent on social programs and that those people, upon achieving success, will give back by helping someone else.

Finally, I believe that Biden will be more "Presidential" and less like an angry union rep.  Regardless of how you feel personally, please realize that the temperment of our leader is very important to a lot of people, including me.  We care about how we look to the world and we want to be represented by someone that also cares.

Look, boiled down to the essence, it's this:  Republicans believe that the answer to all problems is a booming economy.  Democrats believe that taking care of people will solve all problems.  They are both right...and both wrong.  Somewhere in the middle, lies the truth.  I care about people more than money, so I will support Biden.

If I remember, Round 1 of the current "rage" match started because of the George Floyd shooting.  Yeah, there were others, Brianna Taylor, etc.  But these riots came about because of perceived police brutality, not because of the President's actions or rhetoric.  I'd say that no matter who was in the office.

If you believe good ol' Joe is going to calm the waters of racial division with happy talk and welfare (or should I say "social programs"?) I've got some ocean front property here in Colorado...

I don’t have a problem with smart social programs. However, if we were being smart with social programs now we wouldn’t have to raise taxes to do some real good. We’re not doing it smartly now, and the left plans to go farther down the not smart road. Insanity is continuing what you are doing and expecting different results

A strong economy is what drives this nation and allows people to be employed.   With every dollar we spend on handouts, more money is printed and the bucks in your and my pocket are worth less.
Taking care of our economy is taking care of this nation's people.

I guess I see the "Social Entitlement" problem differently.
IMHO, we waste a whole lot of money on people milking the system.   I have people in my own distant family who have been milking the system for generations.   As long as there is free money to be had, I assure you, they and those like them will go for it.   Working for a living is an alien concept to them.  No pun intended.

Now, if we take some of the "Social Entitlement" money and put it into limited Job/Skill training that will put people back to work with less incentive to milk the system, then I might be more supportive.

Unless Biden gives away the "world" and sacrifices the police and their authority to enforce the law, the current situation will not go away.   On this, I whole heartedly agree with the President.

But, I'm still listening/reading, I'm trying to be open minded but your reasons are not moving my opinion up to this point.

It's too bad you can't vote "against" a candidate. Take all the "against" votes, subtract them from the "for" votes and then see who won. The current system of voting against a candidate by voting for the other one leads to a contorted view of the actual support for the winner.

The way I see it, the Dems want to give a bare minimum to people in exchange for their votes, and keep them dependant on government or the system.

The Republicans want to give people the opportunity to improve their situation.  As long as the hand-outs are there, there is little incentive for those in the system to make any effort too improve their lot in life.

At this point, a vote for a Democrat is literally a vote for tyranny.. if you listen to their words and come to another conclusion, then you've been assimilated by the Borg left.

OTOH, a vote for Trump is a vote for freedom, whether you love him or hate him, he will do what's best for our country.

BTW, I loathed the policies of Obama, but hating him personally was something I would not give energy to.
